Pros: "Rust resistant body panels"

Cons: "poor mileage for 4 cyl, deadly seats, air bag prob"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"When my timing chain broke without warning @170K I heard the sign that it was time to run way. I am told that this is a serious crash engine so I'm looking @ $1200 for a used engine. Passenger air bag light has been on for the last 100K but GM won't do anything about it. Seats are deadly uncomfortable. Eats brakes and tires. Lacks a PCV valve so condensation in crankcase is a problem. Plastic body parts were a plus here in the rust belt but of course that Idea was too good for them to keep. Bought a Ford escape f roughly same vintage. Much better ride"

Pros: "Great mileage. Simple, clean lines."

Cons: "Not very powerful."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"Good, solid car that gets 29 mpg consistently. It does not have the most comfortable ride, but good enough. After almost 100K miles, I've had only one major repair (timing chain and something near the timing chain - can't remember exactly what). Some minor issues with sensors - the check engine light kept coming on and the mechanic could not find the problem until he realized it was just a bad gas cap. The car is big enough to hold 300 pounds of dog in back with rear seat down, and strong enough to tow a (very) light boat and trailer. I have been very pleased with it and will keep it as long as it lasts. I hope I get 20 years out of it."

Pros: "Good value, reliable, handles like a solid SUV"

Cons: "Noisy interior, special fluids for 2005 model"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"Pushing on 125,000 miles and never had a major issue with this car. Keep up on regular maintenance and this car will drive forever. It handles decently on snowy, slick, or rough roads. Interior is a little noisy. It's not going to win you any street cred, but the thing is an energizer bunny. Would absolutely buy again and again and again!"

Pros: "Great mileage, easy to drive...."

Cons: "More leg room in rear seating area.............."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I purchased this vehicle new in 2007. The car has not given me any problem. The only problem that I had was that I had to change the windshield washer pump motor. I am on my second set of tires. The first set lasted for only 22000 miles before I have to replace all 4. My around town MPG is 20 or better local and on the highway I have gotten up to 34 MPG. (It does have the V-6 engine and runs great. I wish is was still being made. I am very happy and satisfied with its performance over the 7 years that I have owned this vehicle. Would recommend this vehicle to anyone........."

"Great dependable Honda engine. Got all the bells & whistles on this car so it seemed more elegant. Very practical and dependable. Handled well in winter in mountains. Never had it break down. Brakes squeaked on occasion, then time to service them. Love the car and hate to move on."

Pros: "Versatile, long-lasting, CVT, value"

Cons: "CVT has different driving feel"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"We bought this new in 2003, and it is still used practically every day. It is the wife's commuter vehicle. We use it for hauling supplies from the big box home improvement store - including bags of mulch, planting soil, gravel, lumber and more. We have had a trailer hitch installed and it has made a couple of trips (1400 miles round trip) hauling a loaded rental trailer. The only negative is slightly different driving dynamics because of the continuously variable transmission (CVT). It has a different feel from a geared automatic transmission. The CVT allows the engine to run more efficiently, though, which is a benefit. Unfortunately this is now an "orphan" product (Saturn no longer exists) so we will eventually have to replace it with something other than another VUE."
