I own this car - My approximate mileage is 196,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Durability, longevity, styling, comfort"
Cons: "Specialty shop bills, aftermarket support sketchy"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8
"The mid 90's were the golden age of automobiles, as at the same time certain technologies became mature and perfected, body styling was radically freshened, and widespread cost-cutting not yet in effect. This Saab is a great example, with an enduring beauty to the body, a bulletproof I4, and excellent seats/cabin. Reliability is not bad. I'll speak from experience and avoid generalizations. My breakdowns are just a fuel pump (my fault, neglected filter) and clutch cable failure (known issue, carry a spare. 8 years on mine now, maybe problem is fixed). ORIGINAL water pump, alternator, and timing chain - you save much money because you don't need these often-prescribed preemptive maintenence jobs! Other facts: 32 MPG total for me. Huge trunk, wagon-like load bay. Paint never faded under Carolina sun! MPG computer actually correct, and speedo dead accurate! I understand these cars sell very cheaply now...gotta say it's a fantastic value if you snag a good one. You can try general mechanics if you can convince them to take it on, it's just a basic 4cyl, 5sp, OBD1, FWD sedan when it comes down to it."

I owned and sold this car - My approximate mileage is 155,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Fast reliable fun"
Cons: "No cup holders. Top broke"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"That car was fast reliable and turned many heads. The parts (I replaced a serpentine belt and brake pads) weren't too bad in price. It never left me stranded. It is still on the road today. I sold it because the top broke. A common thing for these cars I hear. The dealers charge OUTRAGEOUS prices for anything. Don't go there unless you have to. Putting a better stereo in was a head ache but the speakers were nice. Plenty of trunk space. No cupholders. Had strange electrical problems sometimes. The display was great with mpg and dte functions. I loved the car and would recommend to anyone."

I owned and sold this car
Reason: Constant Repairs - My approximate mileage is 95,000
Pros: "Comfort, Leather, Sunroof"
Cons: "Power Steering issues, Belts, falls apart in wreck"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1
"I bought this car Used at 80,000 Miles everything seemed fine. It was extremely comfortable very nice sunroof leather seats the whole 9yds. Then it came time to get an oil change $60 every mechanic charged. Ok fine no big deal. Then the serpentine belt went out, got it replaced then a week later falls off. Go to another mechanic it breaks. Then the belts are all fine and dandy. 2 weeks later power steering leak and pouring out. Got it fixed and happened again within the next month. Each belt was $180. Then the power steering pump replacement was $600, and going through 4 power steering pumps = $2,400 and 3 serpentine belts = $540. Car while driving was very shaky, however had good acceleration. Then after about 3 months of no issues the car gets hit. No air bags deployed, and the entire passenger side doors were shoved in all done by a Toyota Camry. Both feeble cars hitting one another yet the Toyota suffered a fender and that was all. This car was horrid, if you buy this car you clearly have money to throw away I sure don't."
