The 9-7X represents something of a philosophy change for Saab, a company that built its reputation producing midsize performance vehicles with off-beat good looks. With no SUV in its portfolio, Saab turned to parent company GM for a quick fix. Borrowing a platform shared by the GMC Envoy and Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Saab engineers have produced a vehicle that looks the part, but falls somewhat short of the mark in the areas of ride comfort and engine refinement. Still, for Saab loyalists looking for something bigger than a SportCombi, the 9-7X has much to offer, including an off-road and towing ability no Saab car can possibly match.

"Great looking SUV, but the reliability is something this vehicle lacks. The air conditioning unit, rear end and rear seat brackets had to be replaced within (1) year of owning it. I purchased this SUV brand new and its been nothing but headaches."

"I shopped BMW, Audi, Infiniti, Mercedes, Acura, and Land Rover and this was the most comfortable and just an all-around great vehicle."

"Super Value. Lots of options for a very low price. The engine is very strong and smooth. The all-wheel drive is great in heavy Texas rainstorms. A recent trip to the mountains allowed for relaxed driving on snow covered roads that would probably be unpleasant, if not impossible, in any two-wheel drive vehicle. The cargo area in back is large and well shaped. The towing capacity beats almost any crossover SUV. There are not too many of these on the road here in Houston so it gets a lot of looks. In black, it is a very handsome car. My list of complaints is small. The back seat is tight. Some of the plastic interior trim looks and feels cheap. The plastic at the bottom of the rear doors and door access is of poor quality and does not fit properly. Gas milage is not great, even on the highway. Overall, this is a very fast all-weather vehicle. If you travel with four people or less most of the time you should include the 9-7x in your vehicle search."
