The Boxster receives a new 2.9-liter boxer engine, while the Boxster S receives an upgraded 3.4-liter engine, both providing more horsepower and improved fuel economy over last year's units. A new PDK (Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) double clutch auto-manual transmission replaces the Tiptronic-S, while a six-speed manual gearbox is now standard on the base Boxster. LED daytime running lights occupy the space previously reserved for the Boxster's fog lights.

Although the Cayman, by virtue of the added rigidity of its hardtop, maintains the ultimate edge in handling, away from the race track for most drivers the Boxster provides comparable performance excitement with the added allure of a convertible top, a bit more comfort and definitely more available storage via two roomy trunks.

About Porsche Boxster

The Porsche Boxster for 2015 conveys the same sexy exterior and passion for the road as its 911 kin, but without the exorbitant price tag. Now in its third generation, the 2015 Boxster is slightly larger than previous versions, but it is no less competent. The Boxster's impressive road manners don't come at the cost of comfort or convenience, with a luxurious cabin and a padded power soft top that can be activated at speeds up to 31 mph. While it lacks the hardtop convenience of a BMW Z4 or Mercedes-Benz SLK, the Boxster's interior remains impressively quiet. On the flip side, you can achieve nearly equal levels of performance in the less expensive Nissan 370Z or all-wheel-drive (AWD) Audi TT.
