"Car has never been driven in anything but sunshine, garage kept by myself and the previous owner, serviced at factory recommended intervals by porsche dealers, rag top is in super condition , and it runs and handles out of this world, love the car , just looking to go a few years newer"

Wish I could be more positive

Cons: "Reliability, cost of ownership, fuel consumption"

"I recently traded my Boxster S in for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the rear axles broke and the repair bill was over $5,000. Then there was the constant check engine light warnings. No sooner would I have a problem fixed than the light would pop back on for something else. I finally gave up after repair and maintenance bills totaling over $10,000 for a six week period. On the upside, the car handles well, it's responsive in steering, breaking and accelerating, and looks great. If you are independently wealthy (you'd need to be for the maintenance costs), and you want a beautiful car that feels at home on a track or the public roads, the Porsche Boxster could be a viable option, but it just wasn't for me."

Pros: "Great Handling….when it runs!"

Cons: "ENGINE IS BAD Porsche knew it….Now YOU KNOW TOO!"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"I wish SOMEONE had told me about HOW BAD this car was BEFORE I bought it! The IMS (Intermediate Shaft Bearing) is a HUGE PROBLEM! My WHOLE ENGINE is TOAST after having this engine part fail! Porsche does NOT stand behind their cars. Porsche KNEW this was a problem and settled a lawsuit for EXACT problem with engine failures! High number of engine failures reported! Car is great when it works but I spent thousands in repairs and THEN HAD the ENGINE FAIL! All those saying, "It won't happen to me!" You're WRONG - IT WILL! It is NOT IF BUT WHEN the engine will fail. Very few Boxster have high mileage on them….why? The car is NOT reliable! It is a piece of junk! I lost my shirt on this car and cared for it better than I treat most people! I would rate it LOWER than 1, but this won't let me. The car was financed and I now have a repossession on my credit….thanks to Porsche! Buy ONE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Don't say you have not been WARNED! The model years for BAD 911s AND 986s is 1997-2004, some problems still existed into 2007….that is how poor Porsche's are made! I wanted one of these MY WHOLE LIFE! Now I FEEL ROBBED! Save yourself! This car is garbage! I would not recommend them to a friend. If you have to have one…good luck! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!"

Pros: "Great handling, ride and pretty well built."

Cons: "Interior is dated (plastic)."

"I purchased this car 7 yrs ago as something to have some fun with for a summer. I never imagined I would keep it this long. It's a fair weather car for me and I love driving it. I had the clutch replaced at 50k miles (preventative) and complete the RMS update and some other recommended maintenance at that time. It has never left me stranded and I drive it like the good doctor intended. I am amazed at how much fun this car is to push to its limits. I've taken it to DE events and had a blast driving it for all it's worth. Everything has held up well and while it's a cheap Porsche, I didn;t pay that much to begin with so it's been a great deal for me."

"2004 Porsche Boxster Convertible S - 5-Speed tiptronic. Always garaged, looks as if it came straight off the showroom floor. This is a must see with only 5,000 miles. Stunning gray with chocolate brown leather interior and top. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Door Locks, Power Windows, Power Driver's Seat, Heated Seats and Bose Audio Sound System with CD Player. Maintained regularly. Still under warrenty. Very clean interior and prefect body... no dents or scratches. Hate to part with this car, but have too. This is a rare find! , All scheduled maintenance, All records, Always garaged, Excellent condition, Looks and drives great, Mostly highway miles, Must see, No accidents, Non-smoker, Never Seen Rain, Seats like new, Title in hand, Very clean interior, Well maintained."

Pros: "Fun to drive and easy to put top down."

Cons: "So many Internet documented issues."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"Endless check engine lights. Light finally burned out. Air bag light required seat belt replacement, cracked coolant container, window linkage broke. airbag bracket replaced because horn went off for no reason, alarm goes off for no reason, oil separator replaced, O2 sensors replaced, water pump replaced, radio replaced because it would go full blast for no reason, spark plug came loose (common problem). Have driven less than 20k miles. Car has less than 80k miles on it."
