Pros: "fun to drive, ok m.p.g., great handling, looks"

Cons: "unreliable, high maintenance"

"I bought this car to replace my 1994 Nissan 300zx. I bought it with about 60,000 miles on it and have driven it about 15K miles in the last 3 years. The car is lots of fun to drive, has some quickness, feels light, steering has great road feel. The ride is much more comfortable than I expected, even on bad roads and gas mileage is a fairly pleasant 19 mp.g. in mixed driving. On the other hand the interior looks very chintzy and plasticky for a luxury sports car but the real issue is reliability. Soon after buying it I had the rear main seal leak (very common). Due to the all electronics the battery will also die if not driven often and the electronic hood release doesn't seem like a well thought out feature. The main issue is a stalling issue that the dealer can't fix. Spent thousands (replace purge valve 3x, carbon canister 2x, and a host of other things). Getting rid of it since car can't seem to be fixed and isn't really driveable currently. Would I buy another - yes. It is so sharp and fun to drive I might try once more but I wouldn't own another 996 model if it was given for free."

"I think the 911-4 S is one on the most beautiful sports cars on the market. It is not the most comfortable or quite car, but it is a sports car. Stiff handling for good road control etc. Lots of power. And the most beautiful styling out there especially the 911 4- and the turbo with the air-vent etc."

"This is my 2th 911 and probably last! This is a fast 6 speed with lots of goodies built in! It gets good mileage on the open road and so so in town! It's a 40th edition model with 1963 made for this year! It has no issues so far and can't see any with proper maintenance! It's a great car to drive and when you put it through the gears have plenty of open road ahead of you!! It's fast and a great sound of Porsche!!"

"Has proven to be an awesome car. Every time I drive it, it puts a smile on my face. After 71,000 miles still am impressed every time.the turbo has none of the RMS and other problems the normally aspirated engines have."

Pros: "great price, incredible handling, amazing drive"

Cons: "bad history"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

Car has been lowered one inch with the adjustable Bilstien dampering system.

"This car was bought with low miles and completely gone through due to the history of this year and model. The IMS bearing was replaced, the cam was adjusted with the fuel mix, a sport suspension was installed (Bilstein PS10's) and 18" sportline wheels were put on with Bridgestone Potenza's. This car is a rocket! It drives and handles like no other."

Pros: "Great ride, incredible power, looks are to die for"

"This is a car drivers dream. I've owned 6 Porsche's and this one is by far the best. At 4000 RPM's it goes into another dimension. The 40th Anniversary 911 comes with a 3.6-liter flat-six engine tuned to produce 345 horsepower 25 more than the regular 911. And it makes a huge difference. Drive it and you will want to buy one. Great value at anything close to $40K if you can find one under 45K miles. My guess when the 50th anniversary of the 911 rolls around, this car will be worth $50K. Rare now, then it will be a real collectors item."
