"I got the van with 80,000 miles. It has performed flawlessly. At 170,000 I had a head gasket leak. Even though the cost was $700 for the repair it was worth every penny as the van has ran and held up great over the years. I couldn't have been more happy with the van. It routinely gets 22-23 mpg. The interior material is incredible. It has held up to three small kids for their entire lives and still looks like brand new. Paint has held up great. Its been a very reliable vehicle. I still see tons of this model van on the road."
Cons: "Reliability. Can't turn headlights off after dark."

"When everything functions as it should (which is rarely) it's not a bad driving van. Rocker panels rust out very early on. Needed new tranny after 100,000 miles. Power window switches fail repeatedly. Replaced head gasket twice. ABS, fuel gauge, rear wiper and A/C no longer work. Cooling system runs HOT. All this with required routine maintenance and too many replacement parts to list. Just was informed by my mechanic that the frame is now all but rusted out and that it "will" fail at any time."
"I have loved this car for almost all of the "values" above - the only problem I've ever had was getting the seats in or out. Other than that, it's been so helpful with 3 kids. I love it, and hate to give it up."
Pros: "Beautiful, plenty of power, very roomy, even for 6"
Cons: "Buy the warranty, the dealers charge $100 per hour"

"This model seems to have an issue with the head gaskets. I bought the extended warranty so mine was fixed free when the gasket blew at 50000 miles. My brother bought the same model without the warranty, and he had the same problem. But he had to pay $2.300 to fix it. The car was trouble free until about 110000, when the steering box failed.
All in all, not a bad record."
Pros: "lots of room, starts up good , handles well"
Cons: "trade in value low compared to repair costs"

"Excellent amenities and comfort for travel. Cons, will nickel and dime you to death in repairs. Car had almost 100000 miles when I bought it. Replaced fuel and water pump. Then at 156000 miles, transmission went out, engine started leaking, and fuel gauge stopped working at the same time. Transmission problems are common with Montanas"
