"My family has owned this vehicle since it was new, and it has been very good to us. This is Michigan, so the winters are hard on us, including the van, but it has come through. And the repairs (when parts wore out) have been very reasonable (compared to today's vehicles). I will miss it."
"I inherited this car from my mother, who bought it new in 98. She had 150,000 miles at that time, and in the 100,000+ miles we've clocked in together, I've grown to love this old machine.
Handling is excellent on windy roads; braking is incredible for her age; ride is relatively smooth, if squeaky at times (suspension hasn't needed replacement yet!); turning radius is absolutely superior.
Only possible downside I can think of is that you need to know your car, and keep up with maintenance as necessary. Check your oil; listen for unusual sounds in the engine; etc. Any other "con" that I've experienced is just a product of a well-loved old van."
"I inherited my 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager in 2013. It had 12,000 original miles. My grandfather hardly used it. I am now at 80,000 miles, any I only had to change my Brakes, and Air Conditioner. The transmission gives me trouble now and then, but ive never had a severe problem. I never plan to get rid of this van."
"we bought this van used with 101000. Ran really well for about 30,000 more. Large interior. Seats come out so great for hauling stuff. Started having problems with the serpentine/fan belt. It has come off at least 8 times in the last 6 months alone. belt also squeals A LOT between times. heater fan starting to make very loud noises. Mechanic has torn it down to find out WHY it squeals and keeps losing its belt. Can't find out."
"Great interior design. Nice exterior looks until the paint peeled.
Transmission failed around 110,000 miles just like previous Grand Caravan.
Some electrical issues.
Everything really started to deteriorate around 170k miles.
Good suspension. Ours had the towing package."
"Dependable. Workhorse. Normal mechanical problems for a car of this age with so many miles. Interior has really held up, too. After 16 years and 230,000, traveling all over the Western United States and Canada, this van has NEVER left us stranded."
