"Have owned car since new and has been a dream, a real true cream puff! Very inexpensive to operate, have had no problems just routine maintanence. Amazing 29mpg for a full size car. Would reccomend to any and all, wish Oldsmobile was still making cars."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 153,000
overall rating 7 of 10rating detailsPros: "Good power, quality and ride"
Cons: "Weak design in intake manifold o-ring."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"This is my third Olds 88, but the LSS has all the options. It has been a nice car with a good ride, power and overall reliability. The only caution that I would give is that 3800 engines have a faulty design their intake manifolds. With high mileage the o-ring around the water jacket can leak and cause the engine to hydrolock. If you aren't sure, just replace the manifold before it has a problem and you should be good to go."

"i bought the car when i really needed one... it has served its purpose but that is about it. i got it with supercharger problems but fixed that and now the shocks have gone out and are expensive and hard to replace. the sun roof leaks and we have tried fixing that a few times. i wouldn't buy this car again unless i absolutely had to. and its just plain old looking."

"We have had this car for the last 80,000 miles. It has been a great dependable car. We'd get up to 30mpg on the Highway no problem and plenty of power to spare. It was totaled in an accident recently but all 4 passengers walked away with out a scratch!"

"Oldest in college. bought from inlaw at 11K in 2001 and now has 130K miles and still runs great. city mpg is around 20-21, but hiway mpg is 27-28. A/C is cold; other systems continue to work as when first bought car! Too bad Olds is gone - this car dispelled my ideas on US cars being many notches below imports."

"The car was purchased new in'97. I cannot say enough about the integrity and reliability of the car. Contemplating about a new car, but I would hate to give it up."
