"Bought from dealership at 18,000 miles. We miss it. Looking for another with less miles.
2.2L engine was designed with help from Lotus. Took one apart because wife hit a rock and lost oil. Was impressed at what was inside. Timing chain and such.
Junk yard had extra engines cheap. Same as in Grand Am. typically the car is junked, but engine is still in great condition, so I replaced engine and went another 150000 miles. Now my son drives it.
To bad it's not made anymore. Had to replace a cam shaft position sensor once. Yeah. 2 hours of my life wasted for a 250000 mile speed machine.
Interior is ok. A bit on the cheap side, but try and run it into the ground. It'll take many of road trips."
"I bought this 2001 Olds Alero in 2004. I paid $10K total. This year Alero has a lot of problems and sadly, I got stuck with them. I have replaced the front and back brakes at least 4 times in its lifetime. A computer chip problem causes all the interior lights to suddenly come on, with the chimes sounding, but the car keeps driving OK. I am currently unable to keep up with this car, I am now retired, living in subsidized housing, am age 65 and also the car insurance is very high. I would like to sell this car back to a dealership with NO trade in, I cannot afford to own any car at this time."
Pros: "Great Gas Saver,Cute,Comfortable,Very Dependable"
Cons: "Over 50mph shake"

"I bought this car used in Feb 2010.Bought from a small dealer. It has been an excellent car.Great gas mileage.Heat and air is still perfect.Ive serviced it regularly and it has been great to me.It also goes very well in West Virginia snow.Over a foot or more it still goes.I had to replace the head gasket in Summer of 2014.And the front wheel bearrings Jan 2015.My driver side window quit also which is a pain. When you get over 50mph it shakes so bad you can barely keep it going. But under 50 is fine. But its been a great car to me.Never any breakdowns.I will keep it forever."
