"I bought this car new and have driven it for the past 18 years. I taught both my children to drive in this car. I drive it to and from work - about 50 miles per day. I currently have 355,000 miles and it doesn't use oil and is still fun to drive. I wish I could find a new car I would get the same value - I'm still looking. The outside paint has faded and the interior is beginning to show wear. Think I'll drive it to 500,000. I had an '81 Olds before this!"

"I have owned this car for over 5 years. It has only needed minimal repairs and all of them we have been able to do at home after doing the how-to research online. It is spacious, very comfy (like driving a couch), and is pretty good on gas. The trunk is massive. I transport my 3 kids in it everywhere and it accomodates us nicely. It's styling is nothing special, but it is a nice ride overall!"

Pros: "Comfortable"

"I picked up a 1998 Olds 88 for the ridiculous price of $700 in July 2010. Before I even got to the car, from a distance I said to myself that I wanted it. The body was in great shape which is not always the case here in upstate New York for a 12 year old car. I did have to put some money into it; belt, brakes, etc. but it ran very well and was comfortable. My first 'big' car. It had some issues, mostly cosmetic however so I could live with those. I think things started to go bad when I decided to use Sea Foam inside the engine to loosen up some of the accumulated crud. I've always changed oil regularly in all my cars, but here was one case where I put off having my mechanic pull the oil pan to replace the gasket. The leak was minor so I could live with it. Big, big mistake. The engine failed me one day and when I had my mechanic pull the pan, there was the accumulated crud in the bottom of the pan and the pickup screen was almost completely clogged. I had spun #2 bearing and chewed up the crank. For me, it would have been cheap insurance to have paid the 2 bills to have it taken care of sooner. Live and learn...."
