"Vehicle has not cost any major repairs . At 78000 miles cats & radiator were replaced at dealers expense (radiator had external leak, not internal damaging the trans ) . Truly love this vehicle , stood the test of time . Paint job and styling are awesome . Had to replace driver side window regulator & front u joints along with serpentine belt other than that great vehicle"
"I bought my xterra in 2009 with 60,000 miles. Was super reliable until 2014 when at 163K the radiator/transmission issue reared its ugly head. I went ahead and fixed it for a cost of $3800. Its been running well since, and I have 185K miles now. I wish I knew about the issue before it happened, but live and learn. I'll keep driving this truck until it dies. I love it. Hopefully I'll get another 100K out of it."
"We owned one for nearly 10 years and loved it. Then suddenly the radiator failed, leaking radiator fluid into the transmission, and transmission fluid into the radiator. This destroyed both, with the total repair bill being $5,000 after tax, which was more than the value of the car!!! It turns out it was a known flaw, and if Nissan had warned us about it a couple of years earlier (or done a recall) we would have replaced the radiator and we would be OK."
"I bought this car used in 2013. It is metallic blue with two-tone sporty interior of gray and sandstone. I love the interior; anyone getting in for the first time usually have a lot of compliments.
The driver seat has a lumbar support function which is great for me and my back. I can tilt my seat several ways which is great.
I have the 6-sp Manual 4WD and Love it.
Some issues I've had:
Busted rear trailing support bar ($100, easy self-fix)
Driver side window motor (Passenger seems shortly behind with how slow it rolls up)
Cat. Converter is throwing a code because it became clogged after using a fuel additive (like STP, Chevron Techron or Gumout as examples) which is costly to fix.
Motor and Transmission run strong. Replaced all fluids myself (even front and rear diff) and I can envision this truck lasting me a long time. It feels very sturdy.
I love the way it looks too. Plenty of room to put junk from Home Depot or Lowes in too.
All in all, if you need something for your family with 4WD, this is a great buy."
"I purchased a 2007 used SE in 2013 and have had a good experience so far with it (now 2015). This is my second Xterra and sorry to see them go after this year. But the truck does eat gas. Plenty of power in the renowned 4.0 V6 taken out of the older Z car. I am over 6 ft tall and this is one of the few vehicles I feel comfortable driving. The driving position is a sitting position and not a lying down position with legs extended forward as in the Forerunner, which is made for short people. The X is the best looking SUV I have seen other than the Jeep G Cherokee too which is twice the cost. It has been reliable other than replacing the power window motor in the front passenger side which set me back $450."
"I love my truck! Seats are easy to change from sitting to flat-plenty of space for seating, both front and back. Drives awesome--a tad bit tippy-feeling if it is empty, but otherwise, rides like a truck--meaty, not "floating" all over the road. Handles speed great and eats up bumpy and 4x4 driving like a race horse. 4x4 driving during winter even on icy roads is great. Engine and power are great when its needed--Best vehicle I have ever owned."
