"This was a GREAT truck for the 1st 30,000 miles.
Since then nothing but unreliability.
I bought the truck new and drove it some, but not a lot.
Warranty stopped after 3 years. At 5 years and 30K miles
I was driving on a 50 mile trip and the motor started losing power and then stopped. I rolled into a gas station and put in 5 gal of gas. Truck started and ran fine. On my way back home it started losing power AGAIN. Pulled off road, shut off engine, waited 10 secs, restarted and it ran fine. Did this one more time going home. NEVER GOT ANY ERROR CODES. Took truck to dealer (110 miles away) for 2 minor recalls. Dealer had truck for 1 week, found nothing. When I picked it up the service manager suggested changing IPDM. A couple of weeks later I had another engine power loss. I bought a new IPDM from dealer, installed it and problem appeared to be fixed. This all happened in 2011 at 31,000 miles. Now in 2015 and 35,000 miles the problem has
started AGAIN. I put in an ECM relay but it did not fix problem. I put in YET ANOTHER IPDM, problem occurred in 40 miles on a trip. Here's the kicker, I can pull over, turn off the engine, restart and have full power (for awhile).
Now I had 2 error codes that pointed to the fuel pump and
the MAF sensor. I replaced the fuel pump and cleaned the MAF. I then drove the truck on a 120 (240 round) trip. The
truck ran fine (FIXED - NO). A month later I made the same
trip and the motor quit dead (didn't lose power as before)
but just quit at 80 MPH. Pulled over, turned off, restarted
and had full power AGAIN. 30 miles (at 80 MPH) motor just
quit again. I was in Grand Junction so I took it to the NISSAN dealer there, they checked it over (for free) and found nothing wrong. I then drove it back home and it quit
DEAD 2 miles from my home. Turned off, restarted, and drove
on home. A month later I took it up in the mountains and stopped on a narrow road to talk with some people. Left it
idling for about 10 minutes, motor went into LIMP mode.
Turned off, had to wait 20 minutes before it would run again, then it ran fine. This problem had happened 3 years
earlier but I dismissed it to vapor lock because it was over 100 and I had left truck idling with AC on. Anyway,
I finished my mountain trip with no further problems, even
on the 50 mile trip home. Called dealer next day and they
said that the most recent problem was cause by the EMC relay. Mine had less than 500 miles on it. I don't mind having to make repairs to a car or truck. BUT, when the dealer has no idea whats wrong and the truck has no less than 8 computers running the truck you would thing that the
computers could tell you something useful - NOT NISSAN.
Great truck if you don't travel more than 50 miles!"
