"Bought it used in 1996, survived Atlanta traffic for three years and long hauls from South Georgia to Virginia. Over 280,000 miles to date and it only had 2600 when I bought it. Never let me down. The gas mileage was not as good as I had hoped but it has stayed constant over the years, finally had to change the clutch and the harmonic balance seal for a minor leak. Finally gonna sell, but to a good friend."
"I've owned a 1990 Nissan Pickup SE 2dr King Cab with a 5spd and v6 for 2 years. It currently has 252k miles on the clock. The paint is in poor condition (some rust spots as well) and it's not much to look at but it runs like a champ. Excellent vehicle for a beater and for hauling things around like furniture. Only repairs needed in the truck's lifetime have been relatively minor (some clutch parts, brakes etc). With regular maintenance I'm sure this thing could hit at least 300k miles easy."
"Bought 1995 Nissan Pickup used in 2000. Just replaced the alternator this year. No other problems besides routine maintenance. Fun to drive. Good mileage (27MPG highway on a recent trip). It has about 160K miles. Most reliable car I have ever owned."
"I have this truck and it has been a very reliable truck.
I purchased it at 20000 miles in 1996 for $5000 and now have 187000 miles, 14 years later. The truck was paid off in 2000, so I have been driving it for 10 years without owing any money on it. Just paying Geico insurance, which has been very cheap.
This truck has a manual 4-speed transmission.
The engine has a timing chain versus a timing belt, which is what you find in many 4-cylinder engines.
I have had minor work done to the truck such as brake pad replacement, alternator replacement, oil change, transmission fluid replacement, etc... Nothing major.
Since a lot of parts are plastic, I have had a few things stop working. The glovebox lever slipped so I can't open the glove box.
The high beams no longer work. I need to get the wiring in the steering column looked at.
The only complaint that I have about this truck are two things. I wish that my truck had air conditioning and an extended cab or back seat.
Otherwise, this truck has been very reliable and gets around 23 mpg driving back and forth to work on the city streets."
