"Stumbled onto the Nissan Pathfinder after being underwhelmed on test drives of the Jeep Cherokee and Toyota 4-Runner. I have the 2005 model and since it was the first year of the redesign, I had little reference. However, it has been consistent and pleasurable drive for short commutes as well as long hauls. Very comfortable and will eat up hills with better than expected power. Ton of room as I've used it to pack a ton of tailgating equipment in the fall as well as haul around 7 passengers besides me. Importantly, the current value is still hovering around $20,000 despite initial purchase price of around $29,000 before taxes and fees. The gas mileage is about average for an SUV which isn't great, it doesn't exactly stop on a dime, and it's turning radius is what it is. However, the positives greatly outweigh the unavoidable deficiencies."
"Pretty decent SUV, but not impressed with the reliability or fuel economy. Good power from the engine, but not as refined as others and is starting to run rough after 3 years. Second row seat is not very roomy.
I will be looking for something with better gas mileage and a more car-like ride. I would consider the new Murano, but have not been too impressed with my first Nissan experience."
"Engine is strong with good acceleration. 4WD is very dependable although sometimes hesitates to dis-engage. Extremely comfortable seats for driving long-distances (8-12hrs). Very noisy both road noise and chassis creaking that is audible to pedestrians when you drive through a parking lot...repeat CHASSIS CREAKING. My vehicle has been limited to paved surface with the exception of 3 dirt road drives and one beach-sand drive (during which an F150 got stuck). If vehicle creaking/squeaking noises bother you, be very wary of this vehicle at >30k miles. Mine now has 34k, and even though it is warrantied, my dealer has been unable to resolve the noises. Also, when they had my car for diagnosis and repair, I was driving a loaner 2006 Pathfinder LE. It had the same chassis creaks! The noise will lead to me selling the car in the next 5k miles, when I had intended to keep until >75k miles.
If it wasn't for the chassis noise, I would love give this car 5 stars. Nissan really got it right with this body-style, power-train and internal features."
"Good sports utility vehicle, but not for a family, it is very snug. Their is no room up front whatsoever. The back seat is ok, but if you have a larger person seating up front, you might as well forget utilizing the back seat. Good for the money and if you are single are have no kids this would be an awesome car."
"I test drove the 4Runner and my mind was made up, I was going to buy it, except my friend mentioned the Pathfinder and when I drove it I was really impressed. Compared to the 4runner the Pathfinder tows 1000lb more, 1sec faster to 60mph and has a standered 3rd row seat. Even if you throw a V8 in the 4Runner the pathfiner is still faster to 60. My wife is the primary driver I cannot peel her away from anything else."
"Wonderful SUV Bought it in Jan 05 of 2005 2005 LE, Have put 60,000 miles on it and have only had a few problems. Fuel pump at 57,000(they covered it under warranty not sure how) and a squeak in the dash every now and then. Have had all the scheduled service done at the dealer."
"I love this car. I traded a 2007 Maxima for hubbys new Vette for his birthday and ended up stuck with his 2006 titan. I took the Titan down to the Nissan dealership and they traded me into a 2008 Pathfinder SE fully loaded except for DVD and Nav. It has every other option. I am happy with the gas millage over the Titan and the handling is much better. The ride is smooth and the console for the stereo and controls are wonderful. I am only 5'6 so I have no problems being comfy driving it and hubby at 6'2 doesnt have comfort issues in it either. I wish I had bought this earlier."
"At 6' 4" I have good front room space. 2nd & 3rd row are more for standard to small people. Veh has very good performance and gets 20 MPH highway. Rides nice, rear end hops a bit on bumpy roads. 4 adults and a little gear veh is starting to ride low in rear. Like the packages Nissan offers with veh."
"I fit a new garage door, garage door opener, 3 interior home doors, a front sreen door and a back door and frame in the back with all the seats lowered. Also i fit 3 new trash bins stacked togather full of paint and house hold cleaning products. I had a passenger and myself and i didnt feel any power loss from the weight never mind the fact that i fit everything. It is an amazing vehicle."
