"This was the second new vehicle i bought in my lifetime. Ive had other suv's before but my 03 pathfinder has exceeded my expectations. Only had a few problems that you may want to watchout for. the exhaust system isnt going to last much more than 80k just enough so it wont be covered under warranty. DONT get it fixed at the dealer your better off finding the parts on your own and going to a private garage to get it fixed. The dealer wanted 1800$ to fix i got it done for around 900$ at a private garage . The dealer said it would take all day but my mechanic had it done in about 2 hrs tops. all in all those were the only major problems i had. its a great truck has power when you want to pass someone pretty smooth ride and great in the snow as i live in Montana and we get plenty of that."
"Finally bought a great SUV! A 2001 in 2009! Call me old school, I had a 07, sold it, then figure I pay for one in cash! Well I paid a little high $6,500.00 but It has me riding in style and comfort ever since, engine is always on! I already know it's either my Mass Air Flow Sensor or Catalytic converter, which I am not going to fix, too expensive, In NYC anyone can get the Check Engine light turned off for $20.00! for inspection purposes! But overall, I love this SUV! It's the best one I've owned so far. I'm gonna really hook it up soon. New paint, get all the little nicks filled and give the engine a super tune up! Then the bad boy is gonna really be nicer than nice.!!!"
I purchased a pre-owned pathfinder LE which had 25k miles. I currently have 105k miles and have only had a few hiccups including the thermostat ($100 repair) and a pipe replacement on the AC ($400 repair). Other than that this vehicle has been fantastic. Runs smoother than most new cars. There is a real difference between the interior of a Pathfinder and let's say for example a Ford Explorer. I have seen a lot of wear on other SUV's and Nissan just builds a much better car (no rattles, more modern controls, better quality dashboard, etc.). I purchased this car mainly due to the reliability ratings from consumer reports (and others) and they were spot-on in my case. Very few issues other than normal wear & tear.
The only con I have to admit is that the rear of the car is lightweight. I have $$ Michelin tires and I have spunout on wet roads due to rear wheel drive and the amount of power the V6 gives you. If you are looking for something to do just a little more with (I regularly drive on gravle/dirt trails so needed the clearance of SUV), then this is NOT the car for you. 4WD would help, but this is more or less a "car" version built as an SUV."
"I cannot say enough about this vehicle. Over the past seven years she has pushed through rain, snow, ice and rush-hour traffic and never broken down. I have never had a vehicle hold up as long and as well as this vehicle has. It really pains me that I am considering replacing her in a couple of months due to the fear that I will not be able to find another vehicle that will hold up as well. The only problems (as others have pointed out) is the 3.3L V6 does not provide optimal output on the highway (especially on hills), the rear seats are not very comfortable for adults and the gas mileage (in my case 16 in the city and 19 on the highway) is not very good. Those aside, I would recommend a Pathfinder to anyone!"
