"In 2001, I purchased my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder used in which it had about 14,000. Now, August 2015 "Betsy" has approximately 470,000 miles. I travel and so many miles have been added and I have always felt safe driving her across the state. About 2 years ago, I was having the oil changed and the business called and told me "We are sorry but it is on the rack and will not go in reverse". The transmission went out and I thought oh no it may be time to put her down but she is still going strong. I have written Nissan a letter about the wonderful reliability of "Betsy" about 2 months ago but this must be a norm...no word from them.
I had a Nissan Pathfinder before this one that had about 200,000. You cannot go wrong with this SUV and still looks good."
"We bought this Pathfinder used (4 years old) with the intention of driving it for 5 to 7 years. It's now going on 14 years. We had the tranny rebuilt at 170,000 because everything else was in mint condition and we love the vehicle. Gas mileage wasn't great (18.25 over the time we drove it) but not bad. We towed a pop-up, a haulin trailer, and a boat, and drove it on the lakes in the winter. Never let us down! I'd buy another Pathfinder in a heartbeat but I want a diesel with a higher tow rating."
"Bought it new in 2000, have driven 100K miles in 15 years. Very reliable, sturdy, drives very well. The radio/cd and power windows , seatbelt switch needed repair. Overall it still runs very strong and reliable."
Pros: "Great in New England snow, roomy, dependable"
Cons: "Uncomfortable seats, underpowered, rust"

"Bought this car as a 3 year returned lease. Carfax was not accurate because car had been in accident and later the body began rusting badly in that area along with rocker panels and over wheel wells. Mechanically I put no money into this car except exhaust parts and tires. It started every time and ran well except that the engine was underpowered. Bigger engine came out the following year. It is now 16 years old and still running well but rusting. One of the most dependable cars I've ever owned. Seats could have been more comfortable though."
"I owned and loved my 97 pathy. i was so prideful in that beaut.. it was the perfect size and i loved the way it looked. After owning it for about a year i recently totaled it .. I miss my pathy. she was a great rig, never had any problems besides codes for a knock sensor. Gas mileage sucked but i loved that thing regardless. would like to own one again maybe."
