"This is my first Nissan - 2005 Maxima SL- (lease). This car is unique; it wants to go fast and is. The ride is fairly good but could be smoother. The cornering is excellent.
I am a little uncomfortable with weight. It seems very light and I would be very hesitant about pushing it to 90 or 100 mph.
I do not like to engine sound. It sounds cheap. The indash turn signals need to be redesigned or relocated. During the daytime, I can't tell if the turn signals are on or off.
Although the right front axle was replaced, under warranty, I'm now hearing a knuckling sound from the right front wheel when I turn left. It's almost like a worn ball joint sound.
In all, the car has a surprisingly great resale value, good looks, and a reliable reputation.
This is not a car for your teenager to borrow."
"Owned a 2004 maxima for approx 3 years. Heat stopped working twice and I had to get it fixed, it wouldnt start once so I had to have it towed to the dealership and the tranny feels like it slips sometimes. It also has a horrible turning ratio. On the other hand, it has great styling and it is incredibly fast for a family sedan."
"I've owned my '04 Maxima for nearly 4 years, and on the whole I've been very pleased with it. Still very stylish, very quick, lots of room for a tall guy like me, great sound system.
Complaints: reliability has been spotty. Nothing major, but several things I've had to get fixed under warranty. If I didn't buy the extended warranty, I'd have been on the hook and not happy. Also, with so much pickup and being a front-wheel drive, there's a lot of torque in the steering wheel. Better hold on with two hands.
Otherwise, it's been the favorite vehicle I've ever owned."
"This vehicle has by far been the best I have driven. I average a new vehicle about once a year, and I refuse to sell this one. It's just amazing all round. It runs very strong, has a comfortable ride, amazing audio sound, and looks great. I recommend it to anyone."
