"Love my Max. has a little more than 242k few issues here and there that have had to be fixed, but nothing major costing more than a few hundred bucks or so over a span of time. Still driving strong! Very reliable, in fact the only reason I got a new truck is cause my family is growing! But I couldn't part with my max so instead of trading it in, I kept it and bought another car!"

"Recently had the spark plugs replaced, some of the sensors, and the gaskets. It has a brand new battery but the carburetor needs cleaned so it will start."

Pros: "Just an awesome car, drives handles extremely well"

Cons: "None"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Had a 1998 maxima bought new. Car was perfect did all my own repairs car never left me stranded. Totaled in December 2014, young kid going to fast and texting hit me from behind while at stop light. I missed that car. I went on the hunt for another one looked for many months found a 1996 SE same color this was an upgrade to me. I knew the madke of the car so well, I proceed to do preventive maintenance at low cost ie axle boots, struts, control arm with ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, struts, radiator and hoses, belts swapped new sensors from old maxima to new maxima. Interior was immaculate black leather. Exterior is in great shape given its age paint is great no discoloration or clear coat chipping. Even though it is older than my other maxima car runs superb will not trade or buy anything else goal is to reach 300k or more mileage"

Pros: "it runs, has cup holders, super roomy and comfy"

Cons: "needs cosmetic work, a little loud"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 5

"I've had this car for 3 years and despite the wear and mileage I've put on to it, it's still running. The interior could use a little cosmetic work, but not much. I keep it clean and tidy. For the mechanics, I've replaced the muffler and most of the exhaust line. The battery is brand new, the tires are still above 50% tread, and the starter is about 2 years old. As for the electronics, the original own put in a remote starter (locks and alarm included), but the alarm started to go on the fritz so I had all remote components removed (but it still has power locks, trunk, and windows). The check engine light does come on, however it WILL pass inspection. It just runs a little on the loud side. The interior is very roomy and comfortable (was able to fit an entire dorm room full of stuff in it)."

Pros: "Runs great. Everything else works."

Cons: "Leaky a/c has made us decide to get rid of the car"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"We had planned to keep the car for as long as we could. However, the a/c leaks when we travel for a while. Can be recharged, but at a cost. Not worth fixing the compressor."

Pros: "smooth, reliable, fun"

Cons: "It is 98, so considering this ... really nothing"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Over 200000 miles and I am taking this car cross-country few times a year. 2200 miles ski trips to Colorado in winter, west coast trip summer 4000 miles+. And the best stuff ... easily 30-32 mpg highway,.... consistent 24-25 mix/city. I put 90000 on fun trips over last four years. My friends think I am crazy to take 17 year old car on a such long trips, but this is my maxima. Mobil1 extended milage oil, good shell gas, michelin mxv4 tires,....to sum up - properly maintained piece of fine machinery. Strongly recommend."
