Vehicles with Safety & Quality Ratings
New standard features for the S Crew Cab include Bluetooth, cruise control and air conditioning, while heated cloth seats are made available on the SV and PRO-4X trims. Three new wheel options, an upgraded audio and navigation setup and a sliding rear window on SV Crew Cabs round out the changes for 2014.
The NissanConnect navigation and information system is now available on Crew Cab versions of the Frontier. Top-line Crew Cab models receive a backup camera, rear parking sensors and dual-zone climate control. Desert Runner off-road editions are available, and fuel economy has increased for most models.
For 2012, Nissan adds a new Sport Appearance Package on King Cab and Crew Cab SV models; Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) are made standard on Frontiers with the 4-cylinder engine.
Once the hottest commodity in the truck market, the midsize pickup field is down to just two players, one of which is the very capable Nissan Frontier for 2014. Compared to its primary rival, the Toyota Tacoma, the Frontier offers a more powerful V6, and its entry-level model comes with a more spacious King Cab as standard fare. As an alternative to a full-size pickup, the Frontier offers impressive power and tow ratings. However, as some newer full-size trucks now beat the Frontier's fuel economy and towing figures, the Frontier's smaller footprint becomes its most appealing selling point. Designed more for recreation than as a heavy-hauling work truck, the Frontier features a spray-in bedliner and advanced navigation and infotainment options.
