This vehicle was purchased used and from the first week, it had electrical problems. A wire came loose and fried two of the vehicle's computers. Those repairs have to be with a VW dealer as no one else has the computer to reset the codes once they replace the extremely expensive computers. The water pump is plastic and it cracked. To replace the water pump, you also have to replace the timing belt. The cost was in excess of $2000 and the vehicle is worth less than $4000. At no time in the owning of this vehicle was I able to rely on it to get me from point A to point B, no matter how short the distance between A and B. If someone tries to sell you one, RUN, don't walk, RUN AWAY.

After buying my beetle about a year ago i have loved it to death ive had to replace a headlight bulb but i was able to change it myself so no big. The only thing i dont like about it is the material the dash is made out of its very picky on cleaners. I love this car and would recomend one to everyone i know!

I purchased my beetle new in 99. Things started going wrong immediately. Interior pieces are junk, window regulators fail, Hard to work on, electrical component issues. timing belt broke and destroyed motor @ 42,000 miles (a week after the dealer replaced it!) It does ride well, easy to get in and out off, but overall an overpriced car for the quality, and very expensive to maintain. I have tolerated it for 10 years simply because no one wanyed it on trade except for VW dealers (don't think so).
