I have 2006 Jetta TDI with 90K miles. Fully serviced at suggested intervals by VW delership in Charlotte. It has had a catestrophic failure in the transmission. Everything that could break from the engine back has broke. Needless to say the repair bill will be more than the car is worth. My advice to anyone looking to buy a VW is to leave it at the dealership. The maintenance on them alone is not worth the gas milage. I have had major failures with this car at least once per year since new. WORST decision I ever made was to purchase a VW.

I have a 2005 Jetta Wagon TDI with 100,000 miles on it. I love this car! Great gas mileage (43-50mpg), fun to drive, reliable. It did blow a coolant hose at 75,000 miles and needed new rear brakes at 80,000 because they weren't aligned correctly at the factory. I drive A LOT (25,000 miles + a year) and this car has been great. Very good in snow (with snow tires) and has started every time even in -30 degrees.

I went from a truck to this car and I thought it would be very uncomfortable for me, but it is a blast to drive! I really love the stylish exterior and the interior is very comfortable. Great power, and I get great mileage on the fwy, but around town I haven't gotten good mileage in any car...
