Resale value is the projected future market value of a vehicle at a specific time in its life cycle. It is typically represented as a percentage of a vehicle's original MSRP and is used for estimating the vehicle's value when it's sold or traded in. Resale value is an important factor in determining overall vehicle cost as depreciation is historically most consumers biggest expense during their ownership period.
The above resale value representation is a projection based on the current market, historical trends, market conditions for the vehicle, competition in the segment and expectations of the future economy. The projected resale value is based on a clean, reconditioned vehicle, at a specific time in its life cycle as shown above. We have allowed 15,000 miles a year. For example a three-year-old vehicle will be allowed 45,000 miles. A lower mileage vehicle will hold its value better than a higher mileage vehicle. These values do not represent commercial vehicles.
