This car (1.8 L, Automatic) has been an excellent value for us. Fuel economy is important and we documented it carefully, with an overall average for one year of 29.6 mpg with a low of 27 in winter during a cold, snowy week (Michigan) and high of 31.6 in June (not using AC very often). Most driving is suburban, about 50% on freeways or interstates, basically driving the speed limit, sometimes a bit over and the rest mostly on rural roads and about 10% city driving. The CVT works well. It takes a little getting used to. It does provide some engine braking when slowing down and the FE might be a little higher if it coasted a bit more freely. The ride is comfortable and the warrantee is good, although we've not needed any service. It is FWD and does o.k. in snow.

I may be bias as this was the very first car I've ever purchased new (newer) and I've had nothing but wonderful things to say about it. I love the gas milage, the spaciousness inside. The sleek new aged look. The comfort of the seats and just how it drives on the road. It's a perfect car.

Bought an SXT 1.8L 5M new in Jul '09 for about 13.5K with the rebate. Pretty cheap. Other than being VERY slow, it's just fine. I'm getting about 28-29 mpg back and forth to work, and about 24-25 when I pull the trailer around. It BARELY can pull the trailer ... 125 lb/ft isn't much. Stereo is good, nothing's broken yet (5700 miles so far), but I can hear a rattle and a clunk some times. I paid extra for the lifetime bumper-to-bumper warranty, so this will be in the family a long time - my son will be heading off to college in it come fall of '12.
