I bought my 2005 STS V8 when it was three years old with 31,000 miles. Some minor things were repaired under warrenty. My biggest disapointment is the gas mileage around town which is 16 mpg. On straight highway driving I get 20 mpg. The nav system is not intuitive and can be a hassle to program. The power, comfort, ride and performance are top-notch. Very good car overall.

Bought the car fall of 2004, after test driving many comparable vehicles, I decided on this because it is a near-perfect blend of the best of Asian reliability and top-notch European fun.
Unforgettable style, great overall quality, perfect stereo system, quiet and attractive interior, good headlights, incredible climate system, DELICIOUS powertrain and very reliable. Five years now and never a significant problem. Still tight as the day we bought it! It has held up VERY well. I previously had a 2001 Audi A6 and sold it at 40,000 miles because it was quite troublesome. I'm pushing 110,000 in my STS by now with nary an issue.
I also have to mention how perfect the suspension set up is. It really is a no-compromise system. It cruises over rough pavement with admirable suspension, but when things get twisty, the car automatically brings out the best! Thanks to the world's fastest reacting suspension (Magnetic ride control), which is now used in Corvettes and $100,000+ Ferraris. Truly state-of-the-art!
If I could put all of my thoughts to words here, the praising paragraphs would be inconveniently long!
Our only complaints are: Navigation is somewhat difficult and the back seat is a little cramped for a vehicle of this size (but I guess it's because it's so plush).
Comfort is compromised by the tight back-seat (as well as a difficult-to-access-when-there-is-a-passenger glove box) and Value is docked because the car is a little out-dated by now (late 2009). It is also worth mentioning that the car's overall quality isn't quite held to the high standards of the Mercedes S-class, but then again it is more than $15,000 less; and the S-class is NOT $15,000 more car.
I would buy another one in a heart-beat, but I'll wait for the successive model, and probably keep the STS too!
