"I have owned my Montero for over 9 years. I've taken it in the snow, ice, sand, and off-roading. It is super reliable and I can always depend on its strength and usefulness. The Montero seats 7, has a sliding sun roof, a useful roof rack, and can tow like a truck."

"Pulled a trailer on unpaved mountain roads. 4 wheeled down rockslides, forded 3 ft deep beaver ponds (with no water inside) and also drove to work. Great for all."

One of the longest lasting SUV's in history.

Pros: "Rugged, long lasting, reliable."

Cons: "Not a cumfy cross country cruiser."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"When I purchased this Montero I was told (by more than one source) that I would only get rid of it because I was tired of looking at it (implying its well built and will last). Well its 15 years and 160,000 miles later and I'm still not tired of looking at it. The late 90's edition was the last one with a truck frame. It is rugged, has 3 modes of 4 wheel drive and there have been no major problems with the engine, drive chain, chassis or the body (garage kept has helped). The only minor qualms are that while it is a comfortable vehicle its not a high speed cross country cruiser and has been an oil leaker post 100K. I plan on keeping it beyond the 200K and 20 year marks."

Pros: "Spacious. Powerful. Reliable"

Cons: "Cup holders are small. Gas is typical suv"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"Handles pretty well for an suv. Spacious with extra backseats. Pretty advanced for its time. 4wd and power steering are a bonus for tough driving conditions like snow and icy roads. Can tow pretty much what people will tow. Nice wiht traction tires."

Pros: "Fun to drive, reliable, looks awesome"

Cons: "very bad gas mileage"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I absolutely love this car. It is extremely comfortable to drive. It is my daily driver but I also take it on off-road camping trips in the summer. It is extremely reliable. Downsides: * HORRIBLE gas mileage- I get 13 mpg on the highway. * It is hard to drive over 75 mph- the ride gets a little rough"

Pros: "Fun drive, lots of options"

Cons: "gas mileage and parts have to be ordered"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 6

"I bought this vehicle used from a private party who had it for 6 years. I like it's ride and all the options on it. I would like better gas mileage for a v-6 engine. I currently get around 18 MPG."
