Pros: "Price, fun, easy to work on, dependable"

Cons: "not that fast"

"Great car. Bought 2006 in 2010 for 10000. Had a p0421 that popped where I had to change the exhaust manifold at 90,000. did it myself for 400. change transmission fluid once at 105,000. changed valve cover and spark plug seals at 137,000. I change the oil every 7,500 as per maintenance chart. Also had to change one o2 sensor and one tie rod. Also my sunroof won't open. That is it. Follow maintenance chart to T and you shouldn't have many issues. Hoping to get at least 300k out this baby! PS I've driven from DC to chi twice in a month. Also driven plenty of times from DC to Pittsburgh, dc to mountains in West VA and DC to ATL. Never broke down on the side of the road once!"

Sorry for quality iPhones suck

"I bought this car in when I was 16 as my first car with 153k on it for $3k. I am now 20 still own it and it has been nothing but brilliant for me ever since. The manual transmission shifts effortlessly, I can get 35 mpg and go 400 miles on a tank, its really peppy, and the insurance is a breeze. My friends have told me its surprisingly roomy in the back. It can cruise at 70 with no problem, hardly any vibration and the steering still feels tight. This car is not powerful, its not about power its about driving. This is a drivers car no doubt, it handles like an absolute dream! That is this cars party piece. There is virtually no play in the steering. No this is not the quickest car, but it will give you a massive grin whipping it through bends. I'm pretty sure its impossible to kill. When I was younger and knew nothing of maintaining cars, this car somehow decided that neglecting maintenance wasn't going to affect it. Seriously I didn't change its oil for 9k miles once, it didn't even tick. That 4G94 is an bulletproof little 4banger. My only complaints are the A/C system. Mine like all suffered from the faulty knobs and mine even had the blend air doors jam up completely. Good thing its stuck on hot because I have windows to roll down. And the quality is subpar but hey its an old economy car that's to be expected. Even though I have bought an Eclipse GSX since the Lancer, I've decided that I am never selling this car. I'll run it into the ground first, if that's even possible with this little trooper. In conclusion I love my OZ Rally Lancer I would recommend it to anyone, but more specifically people starting out. Its a bang for your buck and a great first car."

Pros: "Fun to drive, easy to maintain"

Cons: "AC system flimsy, expensive to repair"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I bought this car in 2009 with 77,000 miles and am now at 154,000. This car has been a dream to own; easy to maintain, fun to drive. It has enough power with the manual transmission to step on the gas and pass when I need to, but not enough to get me into trouble. It's not the most exciting thing to look at. The AC system is one of the most frustrating things about this car; the control knob was broken off when I bought the car, and when I went to look for a salvage part, found that nearly every Mitsubishi of this vintage has this problem. Considering how widespread the problem is, Mitsubishi should have issued a recall years ago, not force customers to order a replacement set from the manufacturer for over $300. Still, this is a minor quibble considering the overall enjoyment I've gotten from this car, and the reliability I've experienced. Besides replacing the oxygen sensor, all I've done to date in six years of ownership is routine maintenance. Much as I wish sometimes for a newer, flashier vehicle, this car has been a champ and I anticipate driving it for years to come."

Pros: "Value, Comfortable, Smooth driving, Attractive"

Cons: "Nothing that minor modifications can't fix!"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this car private party about 8 months ago from a guy who just picked it up from an auction. He had very little information about the car, not knowing anything about the previous owner but it appeared to be in very good condition and with low miles (77,000) so I took the risk. What a score! I've only had to do very minor maintenance to the car and she drives amazing! I own an automatic and its a smooth ride with an excellent transmission. I always feel very safe driving this car, the gas mileage is unbeatable, and its a great value for the money. Most cars under $5,000 need a lot of initial work when you buy them, this car needed very little. It's not too complicated and relatively inexpensive to do maintenance/repairs on this car. There's minor things that I have and still am modifying on the car to better fit my personal taste (replacing stock hubcaps, adding tint, putting in premium sounds and CD/MP3 unit, adding a sports rack to the roof, considering adding spoiler, etc.). It's comfortable and attractive and my favorite car yet!"

Pros: "Small, starts fast very reliable and dependable."

Cons: "Gas mileage (but it is just me) should be better."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I won't be writing too much but I really needed to rate this car as it was my daily driver for last 9 years. 3 days ago, I got in an accident. The other driver ran a red light and t-boned me. Car is not in driving condition anymore and insurance just called me to say that it is total loss. They didn't say how much I will be reimbursed. This car has proven itself very reliable, dependable and smooth ride. The only "complaint" that I have is gas mileage for this car. It is getting around 26 miles per gallon, which is a little bit low, knowing it's 4 cylinder 2.0 liters engine. Corolla (I know it is 1.8 and not the same) gets about 35 miles per gallon and its engine is only smaller by 0.2 liters. Lancer is pretty fast on start but not as much as I believed it will be, considering its small body with, light weight, decent engine power, 125 HP. But overall, this car never left me stranded somewhere. I did in 9 years but some parts and installed them myself, so it came pretty low maintenance cost for me. In all those years, I have changed starter, tires ( 3 times), battery, cables and spark plugs. Changed oil every 2500 with Pennzoil 5/30 religiously. It started to burn some oil when it hit around 80 but not too bad. I would add one third of the quart between oil changes. Now when it's sitting, ready to be towed away, I look at it with some sort of bad feeling. What I am going to get now? I new this Lancer as I know my backyard. Also, Lancer has a lot of space under the hood to work on almost anything. Like I wrote, only complaint is gas mileage. Everything else is just really, really nice."
