Pros: "fun to drive, reliable, good gas mileage"

Cons: "some come with cruise control, some don't"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought a used 2003 ES with about 122K miles on it for my first car in 2012 and I loved it. Ignoring the condition problems it already had when I purchased it, it served me well. Great highway gas mileage. This car could last almost 350 miles on a single tank. It got me to and from college when visiting home between states. Swear it could last about 350 miles on a single tank, but I never took the risk of running it dry. I loved the fold down back seats. Was able to lay objects down completely rather than cramming them into the back seat or in the trunk. Even though it's not meant to go off road, because of the front wheel drive, this car was fun to take in the snow. Managed to drive in almost 2ft of snow without getting stuck. My only problem with Lancers of this age is that some come with Cruise Control and some don't. I got unlucky and got one that didn't have it. That and the drum brakes occasionally collected dirt and water and would lock up or squeak, but not often. Otherwise this car is a perfect car to have if you're looking for a first car. Obviously, a newer Lancer is better though."

Pros: "Safe car. Easy drive. Low gas usage. Maintained"

Cons: "I just need more new techology."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Bought in 2004. Milage is only 62000. This car has extraordinary treatment for all years of my ownership: I used only 93 gasoline and on top of that I used only synthetic oil with additive "TufOil" - that is in Guiness record book -- google it. The manufacturer is in Mahwah New Jersey. What it does -- lows friction in engine dramatically - so my engine has NO age wearing whatsoever. NONE. With this oil on the road - when same car hits 3500RPM at 70 miles per hour - mine runs at 3000 RPM. So saves gas quite good. I love my car like a baby."

With a little more power it would be perfect.

Pros: "Everything but power"

Cons: "Slightly underpowered"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Purchased new 7&1/2 years ago and couldn't be happier with the reliability. The only thing repaired on the car since new were the tie rod ends. Beyond that only regular maintenance, brakes, tires, lights, etc. I have the SE model which has all the options, including faux leather interior, alloy wheels, sunroof, and power everything. Slightly underpowered in my opinion, but handles great and is very comfortable. I don't understand why these cars aren't more highly rated for reliability on the major websites. Love my Lancer."

Pros: "Great price, fun to drive, good gas mileage"

Cons: "No power seats, ac/heater unit knob sticks easily"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I love this car so much. It feels sporty and quick yet is cost effective for those on a budget. It hugs the road nicely, almost feels like it's lowering itself when you take a sharp turn. The gas mileage is amazing for a car from the year this was made. Although the Kelley Blue Book value is pretty low, it feels like it's worth much more and that means a lot to me. The inside looks a little sport-like, the rear spoiler is pretty nice although I wish it was not so round and a little higher. I've had great experiences with the mechanical side to this car, not very many issues at all. You can feel the road when driving in this car and sometimes that can get a little loud. I wish it had power seats and a trunk opener on the car clicker but it doesn't, just a option to lock and unlock the door. This car was my affordable option to the Lancer Evolution and overall I'm super pleased and would highly recommend this car to anyone."

Pros: "No breakdowns, hard to ride in."

Cons: "Very uncomfortable ride, poor interior quality"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"This has to be the most uncomfortable modern vehicle I've ever driven. The seats in relation to the dashboard and floor make for backache. The lumbar manual adjustment handle broke off the first month I bought it (new). If you drive over 35mph with the rear windows down a little or a lot, your brains will fall out of your head from unmitigated poorly designed air dynamic turbulance. I've maintained it well and I've never broke down except for the battery dying, not Mitsubishi's fault. All of the coach work inside is very poor low quality design. The heater controls had a service bulletin call that Mitsubishi refused to fix properly within the first year of it's purchase. Said they put a filter in the vent swich. This didn't fix ease of operation. I never got more than 24 m/gal hiway and 16-20 in town driving. Rated at 35/30. I wouldn't recommend buying this car for everyday family use, perhaps I will sell it to a teenager to get to school. It is now going on 11 years old and still runs pretty good. The front end chassis began making a creaking/popping noise 3 years ago and 3 different chassis shops couldn't figure it out; it still does it. I've been told the shocks and all chassis parts are in excellant shape."
