I own this car - My approximate mileage is 186,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Great reliability & MPG, cheap insure, still strong"
Cons: "Harder 2 find parts now;not many made."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"I bought my Mitsu 17 years ago,@32,000 miles. Now @ 186,000. Have sinced moved to rural Az,where miles add up really fast. She is still an excellent car;still gets about 30 MPG +/-, & still seats 7. Has NEVER burned one drop of oil or caused any major problem for us.Still original engine & tranny.Did change the AM/FM/Cassette for a CD player. Still hate that wussy little fan,BTW.Does not help move air. Great AC, hot, fast heat; biggest problem out here is our rotten roads for suspension. Still has original rear axle, one orig CV,mostly all original stuff. This car has been more reliable, on the whole, than the five Accords and/or 2 CRXs I had before her. I wish Mitsu had made more of these, then I'd keep her.Parts are getting harder to find now. I rate her about 9 of 10.Reliability is Bessies' name."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 170,000

"I've owned a '94 Expo since 1998; put more than 100,000 miles on it myself. Was planning to keep it only a short time, but grew to love it. Very versatile design - not too big, not too small. Has been reliable, but did require transmission replacement two years ago (not surprising for a former rental vehicle). Burns almost no oil between changes. Only complaints are slightly underpowered and tight fit for tall (6ft 3+) people."

"The back seat is extremely easy to take out, making it extremely useful. The heat still works and its 18 years old. My Mits still has great pick up! topped it out at 120! so awesome still. i just had the front right ball joint replaced this past summer, runs like a champ now. the ac also went out at the end of the summer. other than that its terrific... oh the sound system is aweful :/"

"Brakes have been a hassle, and if you're taller than 5'6" or have friends who will ride in the back who are taller, this is not a good car for you. It has been reliable, though."

"I bought the 4dr wagon (manual trans) new in 1992. I have since put 265K miles on it. I have been pretty faithful with servicing, but it has been great on reliability. I have replaced the following in 17 + years: heater core, oxygen sensor, shocks, clutch hydraulic control line. That's right, it still has the original engine, clutch, transmission and drive train! I have taught 2 teenagers to drive a manual tranny in it too. Still passes emissions, burns about a quart of oil in 750 miles and gets about 26 mpg in a mix of city and rural driving. Very versatile in hauling people (up to 7 if small) and stuff (with the fold down seats). Front wheel drive provides good handling, but the engine (2.4l, 4 cyl) sometimes limits my speed up mountain passes. It's done everything I could ask."

"My family bought this van used with 20k miles and has never looked back. This little minivan never gave us any major problems except for the one time the transmission started giving out around 80k. Since then the car has run well and the engine is solid battle tested and still has plenty of kick in tough situations even now in its old age. I let my son learn to drive in it and it held out well in the hands of teenager. Although it may not be much of a looker it has the spirit that won't quit and that is all that I have asked of this car."
