Mitsubishi's crossover entry is more highway cruiser than rugged off-road truck but, given how most SUV owners use their vehicles, it actually makes quite a sensible choice. With room for five, a versatile and ample cargo hold and a powerful V6 engine, the Endeavor has all the attributes to compete in this class, and its stylish exterior may appeal to those unimpressed by more pedestrian offerings.
If you're looking for a tough- and rugged-looking crossover that doesn't guzzle gas and feel top-heavy in turns, a vehicle like the Endeavor should suit your needs.
If you need the added capacity a third-row seat provides, the Endeavor won't work for you. The Endeavor cannot tow as much as a truck-based SUV, nor is it designed for serious off-road use.
Endeavor models equipped with all-wheel drive receive Active Skid and Traction Control (ASTC), while side-curtain airbags become standard on both the LS and SE trim levels. A navigation system is now offered, but only on the upscale SE model.
Driving Impressions The Endeavor tracks straight and true, with no play felt in the direct and responsive steering. Its sleek shape also seems to be immune to strong crosswinds and buffeting. Around...
town, the Endeavor's modest size translates into easy parking and maneuverability, and even the shortest drivers will find they have not only a commanding view of the road, but also good visibility all the way around.Blue Dash Lighting
The Endeavor's neat blue dash lighting has a hip, youthful appeal.
Handy Power Outlets
You shouldn't have a problem finding places to plug in your accessories; the Endeavor features four 12-volt power outlets.
Interior
A look inside the Endeavor reveals a modern, clean interior with seating for five and a wide rear cargo area. The dash is rather pronounced, with a strong center section that stands out and is flanked by two wing-like vents. In the center of the console are the climate and audio controls, as well as an LCD graphic display screen that shows various functions and information and the optional DVD navigation. The large cargo area can be expanded by folding down one or both rear-seat backs.
Exterior
With its chiseled good looks and tall body, the Endeavor stands apart from the mundane "overgrown station wagon" crowd. It has a bold look that is pure SUV, yet under its bulging flanks resides a two-wheel-drive unit-body platform shared with the new Galant sedan.
Standard equipment on the Endeavor includes a 3.8-liter V6, Sportronic Sequential-Shift four-speed automatic transmission, manual air conditioning, front side-impact airbags, front and rear side-curtain airbags, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), power windows, power locks, power mirrors, rear defroster, remote keyless entry, four 12-volt outlets, AM/FM stereo with CD, cruise control, remote tailgate release, tire pressure monitor, 17-inch alloy wheels and a rear wiper/washer.
Options include a tow package, all-wheel drive, heated front seats and mirrors, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power sunroof, skid control, 360-watt Rockford Fosgate audio, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, navigation and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system.
The Endeavor offers only one engine choicea powerful V6 that pulls strongly and achieves acceptable fuel economy.
3.8-liter V6
225 horsepower @ 5000 rpm
255 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3750 rpm
EPA city/highway fuel economy: 17/23 (2WD), 17/21 (AWD)

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 106,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Low maintenance, good gas mileage"
Cons: "Issues with the doors sticking and radio"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 6
"This has been an extremely reliable car. Other than issues with the body and radio, I haven't had any major troubles. I did have the timer belt and another belt replaced but other than that, it has only needed routine maintenance. The only reason I'm looking for another car is that I have 3 big dogs and 2 kids and we need a mini-van. It's crowded if we go someplace and take the dogs. Also, I seem to get a bit better gas mileage than expected. After 5 years of driving the radio started going out sometimes if it is very hot outside. I did have the rear doors adjusted because they stick but that didn't actually work and is an issue sometimes in really hot weather."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 144,047
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Great car, great value, and it still looks great"
Cons: "a step would be nice; doors don't auto-lock"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"Sept '04- My previous car was stolen, so I was forced to purchase in a rush. I had owned a Mitsubishi before (drove it until it died), and had wanted an SUV since '94. So I said why not? I shopped multiple dealers for different SUVs, but ultimately was drawn to the Endeavor because it looked good, wasn't too big or too small, and it was a Mitsubishi. My SUV is more than 8 years old now and I have only had to do regular/normal maintenance, except one recall. Still go to dealer for oil changes. I am so pleased, couldn't be happier. Even though I don't want a car payment, I would definitely do a repeat."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 126,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "reliable, great to drive, durable, worth the $$"
Cons: "road noise, paint didn't last,"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I bought this because a 2 seater convertible just isn't sensible! I bought my Endeavor brand new, and while it was a $40k car (and I probably could have gotten a more glamorous vehicle in 04 for that kind of money!), I got this. I really haven't had any trouble with it. I've replaced Oxygen sensors, brakes, tires. My sensor for tire pressure is finicky, and my paint is horrible (after a 'recall' on paint from Mitsu a few years ago, it's worse than ever!!). I never liked the looks from the outside... but I have to say, this car is SO well thought out! There really isn't anything missing! Almost 10 years into it, the interior still looks new after 2 large dogs, and now 2 small kids, that's saying a lot. Mitsubishi is underrated, and I don't think they are going to survive, which is a shame - they make a well-engineered, well designed car that really ages well!"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 100,000
overall rating 8 of 10rating detailsPros: "RELIABILITY, great deals to be found."
Cons: "Stereo sounds great, but not easily upgraded."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I've owned this car for just under 5 years now. The only parts that I've had to replace have been a couple oxygen sensors, the battery, and brakes. I've driven the car cross country, through snow, rain, etc.. it is easily the most dependable car I've owned. It's fun to drive, has plenty of torque. The exhaust has a nice growl to it, the interior is roomy and comfortable. The cargo area is surprisingly spacious, having crammed boxes and small furniture in it when I moved. My ONLY complaint, however meaningless to most people. The standard stereo is integrated into the dash in such a way that it cannot easily be upgraded to a model with navigation and bluetooth. (newer models come with Nav) But honestly, I'd rather have my wife drive a car that I know will never leave her stranded, than drive a lesser car with nicer electronics. It's too bad Mitsubishi is so under-rated. I've driven a few of them in the last 20+ years, and they've all been sporty and above all else RELIABLE. Go for it, this car won't let you down."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 45,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Good driving, dependable, comfortable."
Cons: "Gas mileage is 15MPG."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"We love this Mits. It is classed as an SUV but it drives like a car. We have "mistreated" it by going off-road on occasion. The AWD handles pretty much anything you throw at it. I wouldn't mud bog with it but it is high enough to take on most terrain types. Lots of room in front, back seats, and storage in the back. Gas mileage could be better but it is what it is."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 93,000
overall rating 8 of 10rating detailsPros: "Handling, price, fun to drive, comfortable."
Cons: "noisy, bad AC drainage."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I bought a 2005 used with 72k miles. It has been the perfect car for my family. This car is amazing in all conditions - outstanding in snow. We were run off the road by a tractor trailer and this car took the impact and handled amazingly as we careened into the median - my wife and newborn son were just fine (son slept through the whole thing), I was so happy to be in such a stable, substantial and sturdy vehicle. It's simply an amazingly good car for the price you can buy if for. Anyone looking for a good size SUV for a great deal should buy this car. It has some problems - AC system does has some drainage problems and there is quite a bit of road noise. But all in all - couldn't ask for more."
