Pros: "Fun to drive, good gas mileage, never a major prob"

Cons: "Large turning radius, nothing else"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Bought this '03 Eclipse new and have never been in the shop for a major issue. Five speed, six cyl. Regular service every so often, didn't really keep good track. Issue with paint, Mitsubishi agreed paid some to have it repainted. Retractable moon roof motor failed twice. Issue recognized and fixed. No problems since. I've driven this vehicle on long trips, 8 to 12 hours with no comfort problems. Usually gets high 29 mpg on cruise control approx. 75 mph. Love this car. Don't understand the poor ratings. Had a new 97 Eclipse rs basic five speed, 4 cyl. before this one, same results."

Pros: "Great gas saver and very good for traveling."

Cons: "The vehicle tends to be low to the ground."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I own a Mitsubishi eclipse and its really good for traveling and speed racing. It has a couple of cons such as the lowness of the car if you are a big or tall person this wouldn't exactly be the ideal car for you. Going over speed bumps and things in the road are very awkward because the car is so low but if you go slowly then you're good. This car also rarely ever needs mechanical service or replacements depending on how well you take care of it. but overall this is a really great car for single college students or a starter car."

Pros: "Looks cool, smooth ride, very reliable"

Cons: "4cyl needs more power, stupid cup holder design"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"Got my Eclipse in June 2009 and it's been great ever since. I love the exterior styling. The interior is fine except for one fatal flaw: They put the cup holder in front of the gear shift, so especially with mine being a manual transmission that is very annoying. The 4cyl engine is enough, but only just enough. At 150hp, and with this car weighing 3800lbs, it's not slow but not that fast either. I can get a 0-60 of about 10 seconds. Still, it's fun to drive especially with the manual transmission. Never had anything serious go wrong with it, really. The only big thing that ever failed was the clutch slave cylinder. With routine maintenance any car can last 200,000+ miles and this one is no exception. I have only had small stuff go wrong: windshield waster nozzle, trunk struts, fuel gauge light burned out and a couple other small things. If that's all the issues I ever have with this car I am more than satisfied. I drive it every day. Always loved the Eclipse and glad to own one."

My first drive in my new car!

"I got this car in march and love it! Smooth ride, fast acceleration. Super comfortable though one downside is that I don't have power controls for the seats. But other than that I can't think of a better car for me. I'm so excited to own one!"

Pros: "Quality, style, reliability great sound system"

Cons: "Too low to the ground makes it hard to get in/out"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought my car used in 2005. It's a 2000. Had 48k miles on it, & I paid 10K for it. It had the harmonic balancer fall out of it this past spring, but other than that, oil changes, brakes, tires, and windshield wipers, which are to be expected, that's all that's ever been wrong with it. It now has 155K miles on it, and drives like a dream. I love the way the seat fits me, the way it drives, and how it looks. Except that it's silver. It has been hit 4 times in the past 3 months, parked 3 out of 4 times. I hate to get rid of it, but I think I'm gonna go with a Kia. I have had back & neck surgeries, and both knees replaced, so I need something easier to get in and out of now. I love my Eclipse, & will miss it very much, but it's time to "grow up"- I've had my fantasy car, now it's time to be practical. :("

I abused this car, bad... love it!

Pros: "Fast, Beautiful, Fun"

Cons: "Bad Clearcoat"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Purchased in 2004 with 11,000 miles, car was practically new. In 2006-2007 the clear coat started fading and it went fast. The clear coat faded on every exterior surface that faced upward toward the sun and was "chipping" off rapidly.I live in Los Angeles, CA and the sun is brutal, long story short there is/was a Class Action Lawsuit against Mitsubishi for the paint job, this is my only complaint. I hardly changed the oil, first and only tuneup was at 170000 miles, clutch need replacing at 140000, the only time this vehicle failed on me. I only replaced the coolant twice. I commuted to work 55 miles round trip for 8 years straight. I am a horrible car owner but this beast kept rolling. Finally in 2013 I needed $2000 worth of attention. Till this day when I roll with the top down everyone looks, s3xy car! I will keep it till the end."
