1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Great car for cost!

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 175,000

Pros: "Handling, fun to drive, easy to modify/upgrade"

Cons: "Mitsubiship doesn't make parts for this model now"

"Had a black 97 GST Spyder and it was an awsome little car! Had some mods done (exhaust, intake, etc) but mostly stock and was a great car. Flipped it and should never have survived but walked away with a bruise on my leg! Quite a safe car for its small size! Saved my life. Want another one! Prefer teh GSX AWD version, though, if I get another one. Only problem was the convertible top motor went out and Mitsubishi doesn't make them anymore. Have to get it rebuilt but can find people to do that for about $50-100 easily."

Great car as long as you do the maintenance

Pros: "Fun to drive and very fast"

Cons: "Rattles sometimes"

"I bought my 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse GST used and the previous owner neglected to do the maintenance, After buying a low milage engine it ran and drove great a very fun and reliable car just make sure you do the maintenance."

"i love this car ive had it for almost two years and it is still fun to drive. great for a first vehicle, it has power, but is a safe car and isnt the fastest out there. freat car!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Best Vehicle!

"I LOVE this car and I will never get rid of it. It gets wonderful gas mileage. Definitely more than what they estimate, at least for my car. I will NEVER get rid of my Eclipse. I will own this car forever. It is so reliable, if taken care of, its super sporty, its small, and it is so customizable. My Eclipse has Lamborghini doors, carbon fiber hood, and a huge spoiler. It is wonderful and such a perfect car for me. =) I suggest this car to everyone and anyone."

I owned and sold this car
Reason: Starting a family - My approximate mileage is 156,000

Pros: "Good first car, fun to drive, 'reliable'"

Cons: "Too many problems!"

"This is my first car... my parents bought it off a family friend. It's been okay, but I feel like I'm constantly having to repair SOMETHING. I've had AC issues with it from the minute I got it, had to replace the clutch, transmission, motor, and engine, and now I'm having issues with the EGR valve. My fiance also opened the passenger side door and had the handle break off- I have a friend with an Eclipse as well and she said she's also had to replace door handles multiple times. This car has been in a sense, reliable, but it's frustrating to have so many little problems happen right after eachother."

Misthubishi Eclipse Spyder 1997

Pros: "Great Price, Turbo,fun to drive,sleek apperance"

Cons: "Alternator problems"

"I love my car! It has been wonderfully reliable with me for the past 12 years. I keep the car maintained whenever needed and it has been a true companion all these years.The only problem I seem to have with it was the alternator, I have replaced it 3 times in the last 6 years. It seems that no matter what I do it will only last around 2 years each, but other than that this is a winner. The turbo is a plus for race car enthusiasts as well as the lay back feel you get from driving with the convertible top down in the summer. If you are planning to buy one I highly recommend this one."
