Good basic car - reliable with proper maintenance

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 286,000

Pros: "MPG, reliability, easy to drive"

Cons: "no cup holders or cruise control, oil consumption"

"I have to say this has been a good first car. I did get mine at an auction for $400, so I feel that it is a good value but maybe not if you pay a lot more. The base model is good for someone needing just a reliable car. I had mine for 5 years with little mechanical problems. Replaced the stock clutch after 280k miles, timing belt at 270k. I always had on time oil changes done myself but not much else. Never replaced the tires. This car can be a good value if you don't get a car with too much neglect. Mine was front collisioned and never had any problems. Now it has been rear ended and so no longer drivable. It's a shame because it had a lot of life left. The only problems I had were oil consumption and coolant but not much to complain about at 250k+ miles. This car was great for me. If you can find one well maintained it is good to last."

This is my first car and I love it.

Pros: "very sporty, fun to drive, cozy, good mpg"

Cons: "getting out, not a lot of room"

good 1st vehicle

I owned and sold this car
Reason: became a money pit - My approximate mileage is 95,000

Pros: "good on gas and fast too for a non turbo car"

Cons: "no air bags"

"this is my 1st car i ever had and it was given to me from my mom as a present but the only problem was it was never taken care of and was in poor condtion so i had to do the best i can with it and i put a lot of money and time into it until the tranny and engine went around 90k (stop and go city traffic because it was mostly a city car so that i am very impressed by) then by the time something was fixed another thing fell apart so i finally traded it in 06' for my 2nd vehicle but it was very good on gas and had i believe a 13 gallon tank so that wasnt too bad and also it had a nice style and body to it from what i think the best eclipse design ever lol"

Fun to drive but unreliable

Reason: burning oil- oil leak - My approximate mileage is 110,000

"This car was so fun to drive...AWD, turbo charger...I loved it. However, it was the biggest piece of cr*p I ever owned. The turbo charger had to be replaced before the car hit 89K then the car continued to burn oil after that. I finally traded it in after it began leaking oil (around 105K). I bought it used (it had 75K on it). It should not have been in as bad of shape- the previous owner took care of it. Bottom line: it was a lemon."

Great sporty car with timeless design

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 200,000

Pros: "style, reliability, fun to drive, ergonomic interior designed for the driver"

Cons: "keep your timing belt changed on scheduled. Idle surge problem on a lot of these cars."

"Modern cars are still pulling from this design. The shape is timeless. I have 200,000 miles on mine and it has been a great car. The interior is created around the driver."

"it was a good car ... but not to nice. the clutch kept buring out. 1 ding an the side an a few minor problems. but i sold it 4 a couple hunderd dollars to a friend of mine... over all it gets you from point a 2 point b"
