Pros: "Fun to drive"

Cons: "Poor quality of parts that make the car."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"I have loved this car for its looks and driving dynamics. But, it has been a MONEY PIT. We bought it with 10,600 miles on it in 2004 and I thought great, just in time for the engine to be broken in. We were told by the dealership that it was rated at a 300,000 mile plus car. That's what personally sold me. We have made sure to take it to the dealership for all repairs for documentation purposes. Thousands plus dollars we've put into it over the years, only to be told that they want another $3200.00. Part of the repairs include a minor leak in the seal to the engine. SERIOUSLY! The car has less the 85,000 miles on it and has been driven with tender loving care. I'm told that Honda doesn't even want to see you for the first 150,000 miles. This car doesn't even rate at American car standards and that's just bad. Disappointed.....to say the least!~"

Pros: "Fun to drive, comfortable, sporty cute car"

Cons: "mechanical stuff breaks a lot and is expensive."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 3

"This car's cute looks and driving dynamics convinced me to purchase my Mini. And while it is super fun to drive, it is expensive to keep up. About 2 weeks after purchase, the car began to need service and replaced parts. WARNING: unless you are willing to spend more for service simply because a car is made by BMW, its not worth it. All parts are more expensive and so is the labor. Also, it only has one cup holder that fits an american sized beverage and it is in the back seat (its annoying)."

Pros: "Fast car, handles superbly."

Cons: "BMW does not stand behind known defects."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"I bought my mini with 100k on it. I knew it would need bushings, struts etc., because of its age. Aftermarket parts are easy to find, and not any more expensive than any other car. The car is built with ease of service in mind. Im not a big fan of turning wrenches, but this one makes it fairly simple. If you take your car to the dealer for simple repairs, I would not recommend this brand. If you want a fun little sports car, and don't mind an enthusiasts level of involvement, this one certainly fits the bill. My Cooper now has all new front bushings, struts, brakes, ball joints, and an AC compressor and dryer all for under $500, and it handles like a Porsche."

Pros: "Fun to drive"

Cons: "Expensive to own and unreliable. No spare tire."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 2

"Everything on this car is made as convoluted by BMW as possible. Anything that goes wrong is expensive. I blew a $40 high pressure hose for my air condition and BMW charged $975 for the hose. My A pillar flew off on the highway (and everywhere online that sells the part has many many other people this has happened to). My coolant overflow reservoir has melted twice (which I finally replaced with a non BMW one), and BMW knows about it and wont recall or fix the problem. Because of the supercharger, it builds up carbon, so unless you go to a BMW place to get that washed out (at a high cost) your fuel mileage and performance go down every year. I have the S model which has no spare, but the car does come with run flats, but they are expensive to replace and some tire shops wont mess with them. The performance on this little car is excellent, the handling is superb. It does handle like a go cart. It does drive well in most weather since its front wheel drive. Being the first run of these cars, it's expected they have issues, but this car was over the top, and every single person I've known to have one has had the same or more issues. Another issue many Mini owners experience is that its so low you can't see most traffic lights without dunking down a little. Also people will you hit in a parking spot. I've been hit 3 times in parking spots. The car is so small people just turn in on you."

Pros: "Great gas mileage, super handling, great design."

Cons: "Few mechanics available in my area to work on it.."

"Mini Cooper created a great economical solid and safe car when it introduced the 2002 Mini. The sporty stripes help this car to stand out everywhere we go. The gas mileage, ease of driving and comfort are unmatched by similar vehicles from other companies. The moonroof is so wide, it is almost as if having a convertible. Perfect first car!"

"The perfect all weather sports convertible. Of course it's a wonder in the spring summer and fall, but I've handled 10" of snow with snow tires that makes me feel like it's a Jeep."
