Pros: "fun to drive, stable, reliable"

Cons: "cabin noise"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this car new and have enjoyed it for 12 years, It has been very reliable. It handles nicely on the Interstate with lots of power and is very stable- no issues with cross winds. The cabin is a little noisy but it is surprisingly roomy. I'll probably buy another MINI."

Pros: "Great experience to plan and build to order."

Cons: "moderately expensive to own and maintain"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"The Cooper S is NOT an entry level economy car! What it IS, is a high performance sports car in a small package. They are not cheap. They are a good value for the investment. To match the performance level of this car with another brand requires a much higher investment. They are small but fierce competitors on and off the track. There were few reliability issues with the first generation (2002-2006) These purpose built to order fun machines are a worthy continuation of the iconic classic, only now as a BMW."

"If you want an enjoyable commute I recommend purchasing a Mini. It seats two comfortably, but three or four is a tight fit. I averaged 30MPG to the tank even with a supercharged engine. The manual transmissions are very reliable. Avoid CVT automatic transmisions."

Pros: "Great handling, plenty of power"

Cons: "Big mechanical difficulties before 100k miles"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"I am the second owner of this car and have had it for about four years. The previous owner replaced the clutch and I am replacing the clutch again along with the flywheel, water pump, brake master cylinder and cooling fan. It was a tossup weather to total the car or fix it, but I really love the way it handles and drives so I am getting it fixed for about what it would cost to buy it off the lot again in good condition. A little disappointed that the water pump and fan have gone out so soon for such a supposedly good quality car. You can get around in the snow if you know how to drive in it but will have to buy a good set of snow tires and watch out for the deep stuff because of the low ground clearance."

Pros: "Reliable, looks good, economic"

Cons: "Very small. Not a winter car"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"This car is very fun to drive and is extremely reliable. The only 2 down sides to the car is that it is small and does not get around very well in the snow. Ive had the car for more than 6 years and for about 70,000 miles. During that time I have never had any major mechanical problems with the car. It is nimble and fun to drive. The supercharger adds some much needed power."

Pros: "Great handeling and performance, excellent looks."

Cons: "Wish I had time to drive it more."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I am 64 years old yet still youthful. I have owned Mercedes, Jaguars XJ12, Corvettes 350, 1967 Cougar 427,Trans Am 350, Toyota's, Honda's, VW, Vans and on and on, Over 100 cars in my life. This car is one of the greatest purchases I have ever made. I bought mine used at a great price and have had no problems thus far. I have driven 300 miles and each one of them have been more fun than I bargained for.It has all the power I need,I feel it is very reliable and the gas mileage is under rated. I am getting 30.1 in the city using Shell Premium gas 91 octane. The interior is impressive maybe even over kill with all the buttons switches and gauges. It also has the leather interior, heated driver seat and six way positional seats both sides. The engine is tight and the clutch is strong and the driving capability is superb handling and plenty of acceleration for me. It also has a John Cooper Exhaust system that I know nothing about but was told it is a very expensive upgrade. I can only say for myself, I am having a blast driving this little puddle jumper. Happy Motoring."
