Pros: "econimical, service-free, great fun to drive"

Cons: "cupholders are in clumsy position"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"So fun to drive. Very economical to operate, yet it'll really go (supercharger) if you want to "put your foot in it". Lots of interior room for its outside dimensions - and I'm almost 6'2''. The 6-speed gearbox is smooth and useful."

Pros: "None"

Cons: "I would never buy a MINI, ever. Honda or Toyota."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"MINI just put in the third transmission in the car. We bought it used off a car lot and we have put quite a sum of money into it. MINI did cover the cost of a new transmission twice, that would have cost $8,000 each transmission. They said now we are on our own, they wont be responsible anymore. When the last transmission was installed, two bolts were left loose and they didn't tighten the starter bolts, it was just hanging there and the back housing cracked on the starter. We had to replace it at a cost of $697. I kept on them and MINI sent a check to cover the starter replacement."

Pros: "Was fun to drive before CVT quit"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"Owned car 3 months before CVT transmission gave out...110,000 miles. Overheating problems before that. Rebuilt transmission is $4,000 plus labor. More than the car is worth. Worst investment I've ever made."

Pros: "fun to drive."

Cons: "cup holders hard to use. Repairs are expensive."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I love my MINI and would buy another one to replace it in a heartbeat. This one is actually a John Cooper Works engine, which is like driving a little race car. So much fun. Also very easy to park in the city."

Pros: "fun to drive, stable, reliable"

Cons: "cabin noise"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this car new and have enjoyed it for 12 years, It has been very reliable. It handles nicely on the Interstate with lots of power and is very stable- no issues with cross winds. The cabin is a little noisy but it is surprisingly roomy. I'll probably buy another MINI."

Pros: "Great experience to plan and build to order."

Cons: "moderately expensive to own and maintain"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"The Cooper S is NOT an entry level economy car! What it IS, is a high performance sports car in a small package. They are not cheap. They are a good value for the investment. To match the performance level of this car with another brand requires a much higher investment. They are small but fierce competitors on and off the track. There were few reliability issues with the first generation (2002-2006) These purpose built to order fun machines are a worthy continuation of the iconic classic, only now as a BMW."
