"Its a van, simple as that. Its an amazing ride. I bought this vehicle 3 years ago at about 120,000 miles! Nearing 200,000 now!! Its still driving strong today. Easy to repair and fix small problems. Great long lasting engine!"

Pros: "reliability, visibility and overall performance"

Cons: "door locks stick when using the key only"

"I can't say enough good things about my 98 Villager. I bought it about 1.5 years ago from the 2nd owner. It had about 130k miles at the time. It had some cosmetic issues but mechanically it checked out fine. Took it on a 4500 mile trip this past fall and it performed very well. Got about 23mpg on hwy in states that didn't require a 10% ethanol mix. In the city I get about 15-16 mpg. It's fun to drive with great visibility and lots of thrust when its needed. It's also fairly quiet on the road which tends to be a problem on vans and SUV. The locks have been an issue when using the key but a little WD40 fixed the problem. There's also a very helpful chat room on Yahoo dedicated to the Villager if you have repair questions about the vehicle. I'm very pleased with my purchase."

"I had my 1997 Villager for 13 years, having bought it used with 30,000 miles on it. In 1996 and 1997 Nissan actually made the Villagers for Mercury; it is the exact same van as the Nissan Quest except with a different name on it. Maybe that is why it held up for so long. We had just the usual repairs and upkeep expenses, no transmission trouble, no engine trouble other than a tiny leak around the head gasket for the past couple years. The a/c always worked, no problems there. The mileage on highway trips was impressive. We drove it 3 times to Buffalo, N.Y. last year from Florida with no problems! When the van was ruined 2 months ago after having been in a flood we were sad to let it go. Dependable, comfortable, it was a great 13 years! A used Villager in good condition would make for a great work van!"

Pros: "Wonderful design, bulletproof powertrain."

Cons: "Electrical gremlins creep up with age."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this van second hand in 1999. 12 years and 65,000 miles later, I have never regretted the purchase. This van has excellent service. Mechanically, its bulletproof. Never a problem. Only typical repairs for a vehicle 15 years old. It has been plagued by minor electrical gremlins as it has aged, but no major issues. Still use it as my backup vehicle and Lowe's-runner. Will drive it 'til it quits running and is too expensive to fix. Would buy another in a heartbeat."

Pros: "nice cargo room, easy to drive"

Cons: "motor slightly underpowered"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"i loved this van to pieces, and even when it was in pieces. out of all the minivans i've had, this was by far the best i've had and cannot be beat. the seating for seven was ideal for 4 kids. the radio worked great. my van was the LS package (the more rare one), not GS (most common). i had leather seats in mine, which was really nice, loved the sunroof, and even with all the seats still in the van, if you fold the back seat up, you have about as much cargo space as a mid-size pickup. a couple things i didnt like about was, the motor, yes it lasted a long while (327,000) and still ticking, but on the real cold mornings, and usually when it rained or was wet outside, the motor has difficulty running until it warmed up. it kept sounding and acting like it wanted to stall and even did a few times. another problem with it that i noticed, was it's a little underpowered going up hills, and it bangs into gears on hills, but other than that. and the body, i'm just disappointed it rusted out so quick. if the body hadnt rusted out completely, i'd still have it, i did keep the motor though, i cant give up a perfectly good motor. but bottom line, THIS WAS AN AMAZING VAN FOR ME, if villagers were still made, i would not hesitate to buy another one."
