Pros: "Good on fuel if driving right."

Cons: "Steering is a little too touchy."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"We bought this car used with high miles on it mostly for the reason being that it came from the south and has absolutely NO ROT. That being said we have now hit 240,000 miles, the motor and transmission go sweet. It rides like a cloud, but also take into consideration someone had just re-done all the suspension before we purchased. Either way goes to show you that if you take care of it a car like this is a good investment. We purchased the 2wd version because the wife doesn't drive in the snow and it produces close to 20mpg in the summer doing mostly in town running and around 16mpg in the winter with warming up the car. All in all a good vehicle but you really need to have a good alignment on the front end if not it seems very unstable and jerky when you steer it."

Pros: "Comfortable, nice looking, good power for a V6."

Cons: "No low range, no stability control (needed with Ti"

"I purchased this car used with just over 100K miles. Since it is used I didn't rate it on value. The only gripe I have is the Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires, this is the 2nd SUV I have owned with these tires and I have not liked the driving dynamics on either vehicle. I knocked of some on interior/exterior design for a few of the controls, but the quality seems rather good as long as you take care of it. It gets poor mileage due to being body on frame, but I knew that when I bought it."

Cons: "poor gas mileage"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"My grandson took his driving test in this car - it is so easy to drive. The turning radius is awesome. It's rather big and the gas mileage isn't too good since it is a V8. Hence, great pick up when entering the freeway. It's a great car."

Pros: "I like SUVs and being elevated"

Cons: "A financial massacre of repairs"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"I usually buy import cars whatever that is supposed to mean with many parts on all cars now being imported ....I drove a Nissan to over 200,000 and it was still running....a vw Jetta for about 180,00 that still ran when I traded it and then The2003 mountaineer. Cosmetically loved this SUV however I had MAJOR repairs at what I considered relatively low mileage. I was told by a mechanic that specializes in transmission repairs, that if your model of mountaineer was built before June of 2003 they changed the transmission because of the failure. Most people that I ran into that had this vehicle all had the same problem with their transmission. This truck left me stranded on a highway. Never again nor do I recommend anyone buying one."
