"I plan to get a special super nice paint job. It is white and I want it to be very nice attractive color. I plan on driving it until I hit over 200,000 miles. I understand a friend of mine had one an at 179,000 miles she and her husband replaced one part on it. Great Car! I am keeping it.... 5 Star rating"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 187,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "everything"
Cons: "no cd player, fair but not cheap on gas"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I bought it used and it had been owned by a older couple for 10 yrs they took great care of it, then I took great care of it and had it serviced with oilchange every 5,000 miles and never had to take it in for repairs. Just had to buy tires and a switch for something electrical, that's all! Then someone hit my car and broke my heart because I was so in love with my 2000 Grand Marquis, I'm looking for a new love now hope I get another one (sigh) such a great car."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 155,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "good balance of power and economy"
Cons: "Yes! "few cup holders" but few other cons"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"Acquired this car by trading a useful pickup for a more useful large sedan in 2008! Have put on 100k since then; no expenses except for maintenance (tires, oil changes, etc). Learned it has "police package" features when I put new brakes on it. Even now, gets 29 mph routinely in hwy driving, 17 mph stop-and-go. FEW cars offer its level of comfort without sacrificing economy, and vice versa; and it has shown great dependability (NEVER fails to "start and go"!) My Dakota pickup was faster, flashier, and I've had at least one car with more luxurious amenities. But, my Merc offers a uniquely "Fun" feature: I can park along any street or highway and just smile at how MANY passing vehicles abruptly decelerate when they spot what appears to be an unmarked "copcar" checking them out!"

"I have owned owned 2 ford 2002 crown vic's and 1 2001 Mercury Grand marquis gs. Every one of them were very dependable and nice riding cars. That made trips back and forth from Ohio to Florida, very nice traveling cars with plenty of power.both of the crown vics have over 200,000 and the Mercury has 143.000. These cars are a Great value for what they cost and repairs and parts are very reasonable"

I don't own this car
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "roomy, comfortable, power"
Cons: "cup holder fell apart, traction not great/corners"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"I found this car for my mother in law. it had 40,000 miles on it in 2010. the car drives like a dream. i do love the comfort and handling of this car. shortly after getting the car the catalytic converter went out. luckily it was still under an emission warranty which covered it fully. there have been some issues with the gear shift. she had to have it replaced and now a brake sensor went out. that seems to be pretty common with other grand marquis. this care is bigger and handles differently from other cars i have owned."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 75,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "reliability, plenty of room, drives like a dream"
Cons: "lots of car to maneuver, low MPG, rear wheel drive"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I absolutely love my 2004 Marquis. My family is tall and even my 6'5" son can ride comfortably in the back seat. I'm not a fan of SUVs, so a full size car like this is the perfect solution. This car rides like a dream and is super reliable (we've also had a Crown Vic) and with regular maintenance will give you 300,000 miles without fuss. I'm so dissapointed that Ford has stopped producing cars on this platform. Used Crown Vics/Grand Marquis/Town Cars are still reliable and can be had for decent prices if you are a good negotiator. I only have two negatives and they aren't really negatives, just things one should be aware of before looking for one of these. 1) Of course, as with any heavy V8 you are looking at less gas mileage than you would get with most modern cars (truck and SUV drivers will find it comperable, I get an average 20 MPG and I drive both freeway and in town regularly). 2) It's a heavy, rear wheel drive car. If you are used to front wheel drives and you live somewhere with bad winters this will take some getting used to. I take the old fashioned route and throw a few heavy bags of salt and kittly litter in the trunk during the winter and don't have any trouble. I've never been stuck though. If this type of car appeals to you, you can buy a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car with confidence. Take good care of it and it will take good care of you."
