Review this carBy Rick (OR) on Wednesday, April 10, 2013
I own this car
Reason: other car - My approximate mileage is 100,000
Pros: "fun to drive"
Cons: "Not built any longer"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"Drives well, handles very well, 20/25 plus miles per gallon, very comfortable to ride in, nice freeway cruiser, stable on the road, add the super charger option and have a freeway flyer. Carry 4 people with comfort. Unfortunately, they are no longer built. The one we had came with the handling option and larger brakes-nice cars"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 86,000
overall rating 8 of 10rating detailsLikely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"Owned the car since 1998 and have enjoyed the ride to say the least ! I'm having trouble locating the hub nut area cover plates. They are octagonal shape with one allen machine screw into the hub perimeter. Anyone know where to look ? the rims are 10'' wide with thick soke pattern that should show up in the photo."

I owned and sold this car
Reason: Doors wouldnt shut anymore.. - My approximate mileage is 117,000
Pros: "Reliable, Great Value, Even at High Miliage..."
Cons: "Nothing special to look at, Door problems"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have owned the kitty cat! I really really enjoyed this car and feel as if I got every penny worth. The engine and trans never failed or gave me a problem! It probably would have ran forever.. I sold it at almost 200,000 miles because the doors just would not shut anymore. I hear this is a common problem with the cougar. While in my care, I replaced a water pump, alternator, and brakes. It always drove smoothly.. This car will last past 200,000 easily if maintained!"

"I love this 1996 Mercury Cougar XR7. It sits low to the ground and slightly raised in the rear, just like a cougar ready to pounce! It has leather interior, sliding sun roof, electric everything (doors, windows, locks, both mirrors, driver's seat), power brakes"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 97,500
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Comfortable, Highway Gas Mileage, Spacious Seats"
Cons: "Cup holders in awkward place, power"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"It has an elderly appeal, but it is a very comfortable and reliable vehicle. I am only 17, and have had the car for over 3,500 miles with only one issue (related to it sitting so long before I got it). It's not very quick, but it does good on the interstate. I LOVE the seats, and I love the quality of driving. Highly suggest for someone who wants a cheap and reliable vehicle. Don't let age scare you."
