Pros: "Great price, handles well"

Cons: "Numerous small problems"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 5

"I love how the van handles, and that it's a smaller minivan. However... it's had numerous small problems, and 1 big one-we had to get a new transmission at 38K miles. I dislike how difficult it is to access the spark plugs, and think that was a design flaw. Too many small parts have had screws come loose or be lost, so I think assembly should have been a bit more careful."

Super reliable since I bought it new....

Pros: "reliable, sporty handling, easy to park"

Cons: "tight engine compartment"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Reviews here are mixed from earlier MPVs, some with different engine/transmission - this review is solely for 2005 Mazda MPV LX that I bought new. First, I don't consider reviews when people buy used vehicles because there are many different factors which could attribute to your vehicles degradation. For me, I maintain my MPV with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W-20 every 5K-6K miles, I made the switch from dyno oil since 20K miles. I also do drain and fill transmission oil at the dealership every 25K miles. Air filter as well as cabin air filter every 12K miles. That's it, this MPV never leaves us stranded. Recall for coils at 33K so all coils were replaced together with spark plugs. PCV hose (very difficult to access) failed at 56K, drive belt and tensioner changed not broken due to ticking noise at 64K (i'm picky about car). That's it and all of these problems happened while the car was still drive-able! Size is smaller than other minivans which means parking is easier, better Driving dynamic and MPG. Our has no powered sliding doors, but they are light - my 4 yr. old could open it so does each one of you. We love it so much we went for Mazda 5 for our second car since they don't bring MPV anymore in US - they still make MPV, Mazda was smart enough to anticipate v6 engine minivans don't sell well in US."

Pros: "Good van. Comfy like an old shoe that fits well."

Cons: "None that I can think of."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"Bought this van new. It has been a good van for the most part. Passenger door is rusting out at the bottom. One coil pack in the back has had to be replaced. Driver door window motor fail at 80,000. Power sliding doors are great. Rear heater and a/c are great. Never had to change rear brakes, always good upon inspection."

White as snow..

"I have had a ton of mini-vans over the years, most for delivery, hauling music gear, etc. Just sold my 2002 Windstar, which had never ending engine codes. Researched the Mazda here, plus our car lot had one a year ago, that I liked driving. The folding rear seat is awesome, quiet ride, solid mechanicals, hi mileage does not bother me at all."

Pros: "Removable and foldaway seats and automatic doors"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"I bought the MPV as our family grew and my wife told me she wouldn't drive a mini-van. Over the years I have had minor issues, most while under warranty. Overall the MPV has been great. Gas mileage has been in the 18-20 range consistently. The rear folding seat was somewhat unique at the time and was a great feature. It handles great and the automatic doors have been a good feature, except they sometimes cause problems when I try to shut the door and drive away while it is closing (I am sure this is a safety feature but it is annoying now that my kids are older and I am trying to drop them off at school and keep the line moving). Overall I definitely got my money's worth."
