If you're in the market for a roomy compact SUV that matches impressive comfort, exceptional flexibility and outstanding fuel economy with class-leading handling and controllability, the 2013 Mazd
The CX-5's new 2.0-liter engine does sacrifice a measure of pure power in return for its increased fuel economy, a tradeoff that some may find a bit too 1-sided in light of the comparative output/
Feeling more like a 5-passenger sports car than compact sport utility vehicle, the new CX-5 makes a stellar dynamic impression on any road. A brilliant extension of Mazda's "Zoom-Zoom" spirit, it matches a strong, rigid body with lighter, tighter underpinnings that add outstanding control without compromising overall ride comfort. "2013 Grand Touring as winter car in Snowbelt. Extremely sure-footed in snow, never slips/spins out. Interior is sooo comfortable. Bose is delightful. Nice for headroom; I am tall and could still wear a hat. Very comfortable back seats, and roomy. Side mirror danger alert/warning is good, but also goes off routinely on sections of road railing. Negatives: 1) Pricier than many. 2) fuel efficiency disappointing - mostly throughway - only 25.6 mph overall. 3) When engine turns off, you cannot roll up windows etc. 4) cabin slow to warm up in the winter--10 minutes? 5) Skyactive 'hunting' for gear can be distracting."

"We test drove the Tiguan,Jetta sportwagon, the CRV, and the Escape before the CX5. The CX5 won us over because of value, gas milage, look, and handeling. What the CX-5 lacks in pick up (compared to the Escape the CX-5 is down right slow)it makes up in handeling and comfort. My wife and I love road trips and getting 32+ MPG and the smooth ride have greatly improved our traveling. If you are looking for a good, cheap, reliable, no frills crossover that is still fun to drive, give the CX-5 a shot."
