"Catalytic converters often clog before 100K. It's a 1100 repair or you live with the CELight on all the time. It's not the main CC either, its the pair below the engine manifold.
The #6 spark plug is IMPOSSIBLE to reach, even by a dealer. Ford plugs often seize and the plug breaks off. It's a big dollar repair to pull the engine and re-tap the threads. Ask a repair facility how much they charge to change spark plugs before you buy one of these."
"I bought my 1999 Mazda B2500 used in 2003 with 57000 miles. I have been driving it for 12 years, and have had very few mechanical failures. Notably, I had to replace the alternator, and do some improvised repairs to the lumbar support in the driver's seat. My son who was 5 years old when I bought the truck now drives it to college every day. Very good value for a used truck."
"I bought this little truck (Mazda B2300, i.e.: Ford Ranger) almost eight years ago. Since the break-in, I've run nothing but synthetic oil in it, been meticulous on my maintenance and the only "repair" parts I've had to replace have been the plugs, O2 sensors, tires, brakes, serpentine belt, hoses, fluids, alternator and battery. Even the clutch is the factory clutch. This truck just runs and runs. Good gas mileage, inexpensive and overall, one of the best purchases I've ever made."
