Pros: "Reliable, acceptable fuel use, fun to work on."

Cons: "Crummy radio, pricey parts"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"Must be maintained "by the book". I do the light maintenance myself. Minor delays to get parts. the radio/ cd player that came with the car sucked!. i replaced the radio for $200 and am happy. Minor issue with the cruise control not working -- but making sure everything plugged in and grounded seems to have solved problem. Don't even think about towing or going off road (not an issue for me). Ten years of driving this car (it was a rental before I got it) and I quite happy."

Pros: "Reliable, good handling"

Cons: "Needs premium gas to get it to run at peak."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this car new in 2000 and it served me very reliably. When I bought it, both engine and tranny came from Japan. Previous years were Ford transmissions, and had reported problems, but not this combo. The only time it didn't start on one turn was is 2010 on the ORIGINAL BATTERY. Replaced it and zoom zoom. Finally upgraded at the end of 2014. Handling is better than a Honda or Accord of the same year but can't match my current car, an A4. Nothing more than expected maintenance (and yes, expect some service with a car with 150K on it). Engine still purrs. Only really disappointing issue are leaky valve cover gaskets (common on this engine) and because of the design, expensive to replace. (One is under the fuel injection system.) 14 years of loyal service - excellent value."

Pros: "Drives nice, when it actually runs."

Cons: "It's dead in a garage more often than it runs."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"This car has had so many issues in the six years my dad and I have owned it. First off, the coolant system leaks, so you get overheating issues. We have replaced the water pump four times in six years, and it has had electrical problems the whole time. When I want headlights I have to pop the hood, get out, and actually wiggle the bulb around to make the driver's side turn on. We've dropped more money than the car is worth thinking this problem will be the last, then 300 miles later theres another major issue. In the past six months we've had to replace the water pump, both drive shafts, fix three different leaks in the coolant system and now replace the fuel pump. It's been towed three times since I started school in the fall, and unless you have AAA this would be very costly. It's just not worth it."

Pros: "Solid with at least 100000 miles left to go, easy."

Cons: "Trunk won't close."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

I thought you add more than one photo ... I've got more - just ask.

"I've had this car since '99 and love it. One of the most trustworthy I've ever owned - up there with my late Volvo, but much cheaper to maintain. I was rear-ended last year in a 'hit and run:' The offender took off before I could get his plate. I have it insured for the minimum, so USAA couldn't cover the fix for me. The body repair estimate came up at $850 which, for the value of the car, chose not to have done. The trunk itself ha a dent right in the middle which prevents it from locking - it closes almost completely, but kept it tapped down ever since the accident Mechnicaly, this car been well maintained, all its records are in order, etc. The brake pads had to changed out once but that was it."

Pros: "VERY easy to drive. Great learner car."

Cons: "Not so cute inside interior. Looks a little grany"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"This 1999 Mazda 626 LX has given me little to no mechanical problems. It has really only cost me oil and tire changes, and just keeps starting up every day! Its not a powerful car (4cyl) so I have always driven it nice and easy, especially up any hills. This and all Mazdas I would recommend ! Also, I like that there are no blind spots anywhere."
