Pros: "Smooth, quiet, Alpine Stereo, comfortable seats."

Cons: "One more inch of knee room would be great"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"This is my 14th Lincoln. I have owned 4 with this body style. Two 2005's, a 2000 and my present 2001 with only 39475 miles on it. I love Lincolns, especially the Town Cars, but I would never buy one of these new. The depreciation is brutal. On a long trip, it's like sitting in your lazy boy at home. The only gripe I would have; one more inch of knee room."

Pros: "good mpg, reliable, gets through snow no problem"

Cons: "carpet affected by salt from roads"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"seats 5 people comfortably and gives a tight luxury ride. gets reasonable mpg, 20-24. minor scratches and no other body damage let it still retain that new car look, even at 8 yrs new. newer tires and premium brakes make it handle like new. all required maint has been performed with top quality lubricants and parts. only the best for my lincoln. I want it to last another 100,000 miles and still look and act like new. tton to trade is to accomadate my handicapped wife. if I cannot find a suitable replacement, I will continue to drive this one as long as I can. I would sell this car to anyone knowing that they are getting a well cared for decent car."

Pros: "Roomy, huge trunk, uncomplicated, inexpensive"

Cons: "Big, lower horse power, wind noise"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Mine is a 2003 Executive. This is old school at its best. Overall this is a really nice car. ABS, side air bags, traction control, etc. Nothing overly complicated. Pretty easy to work on. The outside intake for the HVAC was leaking when I purchased mine. This allows water to enter the interior and pool on the passenger side floor (front & rear). The fix is easy enough, but the drying out part requires removal of the front seat and lifting up the carpet so you can use a fan to thoroughly dry everything out. The trunk is huge and holds a ton of stuff. The rear of the car seems to have a mind of its own. It requires constant attention on the interstate, especially when loaded. Mine only has 72K on it, so it’s not like its old and worn out or anything. I have newer tires on it and the front end is in alignment. It’s just the nature of a large rear wheel drive car. The starter is a pain to get off especially if it’s a northern car. There is a thick, copper braided wire that runs from the inside of the starter to the solenoid on the outside of the starter, which seems to deteriorate from exposure to road salt and the elements. Two of the three bolts that hold the starter in place are hard to get at, and even harder to get out if rusted. From 1996 to 2002 Ford/Lincoln/Mercury used plastic intake manifolds which have been known to develop leaks. The 2003 and up has been upgraded with metal in certain areas that were a problem. Some have reported problems with these as well—especially toward the rear at the heater hose connection. There is plenty of repair information on the web that covers just about any problem that comes up. I would definitely buy another Towncar and would recommend this model to anyone. Look on the popular auction website at the high mileage units being auctioned or that are on “buy it now”. You’ll see examples with 200,000, 300,000, and even 400,000 miles on them."

Pros: "Very Dependable"

Cons: "Fuel Economy"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Bought this car in June of 2014 with just under 59,000 miles. In late February 2015 I took a road trip from Phoenix to New York City. By the time I returned to Phoenix I traveled just over 5500 miles. The car performed flawlessly! My one disappointment is fuel economy. My best on the trip was just 23 mpg at about 75 mph. I was expecting 24-25. Other than that, I love the car and plan on keeping it for a long time. I recently saw a 2002 TC in Craigs list with over 500,000 miles. Its a real shame that Ford stopped producing these cars!"
