For 2010, Lincoln adds a number of new standard features including an expanded three-year subscription to SYNC communications with 911 Assist, vehicle health reports and traffic, direction and information service. Other new standard features include power deployable running boards, Trailer Sway Control and the programmable MyKey system.
Lincoln further simplifies the Navigator lineup by adding more standard equipment to the L and bundling the remaining options into the Elite package. New for 2009 is a Monochrome Limited Edition package that replaces most of the lower exterior chrome trim with body-colored pieces.
Some may question why Ford is introducing new full-size truck-based Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators when the U.S. market for big SUVs is shrinking due to high gas prices. But there is no suitable replacement for folks who need to carry a lot of people and cargo in weather- and theft-protected security and be able to tow those heavier trailer loads.
The Lincoln Navigator was the first full-size luxury SUV introduced to Americans, and it continues to be a force to contend with. Lincoln's 2015 Navigator SUV isn't all-new, but it gets a comprehensive update that covers the exterior, interior, suspension and powertrain. The good news is that while Lincoln has added more luxury, it hasn't taken anything away. Both short-wheelbase (SWB) and long-wheelbase (LWB) L models get a new twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine offering more power and torque and better fuel economy than the old V8, while still offering best-in-class towing capacity of up to 9,000 pounds. With new technology and a substantially upgraded interior, the new Navigator should still be able to hold its own against similarly upscale SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and Infiniti QX80.
