"Quiet, roomy, low beam lights excellent; high-beam lights provide very wide lighting arc; roomy back seats; can carry lawnmower and luggage easily; spare easy to reach. Wiper blades last and last; washer fluid tank holds about on liquid gallon. Rear door window heater wires perform quickly, rear blade swipes away softened ice thoroughly. Stereo speakers placement provides wide audio range."
"I bought the RX400h because it was comfortable, I have no regrets. I have back pain, and to date, it is the most comfortable car seat I have experienced. I am also a tight- walleted tree hugger, so I got the hybrid. The mpg numbers Lexus puts out are not what any average driver should expect. I suspect they produced those numbers in absolutely perfect conditions. Lexus advertises 32 city, 26 highway. I am getting about 20mpg's city and 26 highway. (Which is pretty darn good for a Mid sized
SUV). If you live close to work (like I do) and have a lot of stop and go traffic and/or short trips, you will NOT benefit from the hybrid because it has to warm up about 10 minutes or 5 miles before it really kicks in and can "cruise." I have gone to the dealer multiple times asking them to evaluate the mpg's and they are not helpful, saying I am expecting too much. I have had the ISC reset a couple of times without improvement.
The handling, heated seats, the ride, the stereo, and features are fantastic. The silly feature is the A/C vents- they can not be aimed easily and have limited function. One would think with a nice vehicle like this, the basic functions would be a given. Not so with the air vents. Oh well. I do love the car, just wish it got better mileage."
"I have owned this vehicle since 2005. After 10 years and nearly 200,000 miles, the only maintenance has been for routine wear such as tires, brakes, oil and filter changes.
The interior has held up other than the known issue of dash boards cracking. Lexus sent a letter acknowledging the issue but has not replaced damaged items."
"Overall comfortable SUV. Disappointed though with quality of workmanship and quality of parts. Recently developed a steering rack leak AND timing chain cover leak. The first one is relatively easy to swallow but still did not expect it from Lexus. ( my Sienna 1999 has 190000 still original steering rack).
The second one, timing cover leak, is a 3600$ repair requiring engine drop. This one is NOT expected from Lexus. Lexus will fix it but work guarantied only for one year. Theoretically speaking, one can be stuck with another timing chain cover leak after one year again at your own expense.
For this reason I would not recommend it."
