From the sleeker sheet metal down to the new aluminum unibody construction that's helped shave 800 pounds compared to its predecessor, the 2014 Range Rover Sport is a wholly new creation.
Changes to the Land Rover Range Rover Sport for 2013 are limited to a new wheel design, five new paint colors, red Brembo brake calipers on the Supercharged trim, a wider choice of interior color combinations and a new carbon fiber veneer package.
Still coming off a significant refresh for 2010, the 2012 Range Rover Sport's differences are mostly minor. New this year are a fine-tuned touch-screen navigation system with voice control, a sound system that's been upgraded to 380 watts and 14 speakers, a revised rear-seat entertainment system with wireless headphones, power open and close liftgate, plus minor grille and headlight changes. Range Rover Sport is again offered with two engine choices and in four trim levels: the base HSE, HSE with Luxury Package, Supercharged, and the top-line Autobiography edition.
Looking for something as plush as the big Land Rover Range Rover but with a more playful side? Try the smaller Range Rover Sport. The Sport's shortened wheelbase means slightly less passenger and cargo capacity, but the tradeoff in improved stability, ride and handling is well worth it. Off-road ability is not forsaken, either, and the Range Rover Sport can climb the steepest terrain with the best in its class, even with its performance tires that are oriented more toward pavement use. Available with a 390-horsepower Supercharged V8 engine, the Range Rover Sport is well equipped to do battle with the likes of the Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes-Benz ML and Infiniti FX45.
