"Great dependable vehicule. Will perform flawlessly on and off road.
Like (older?) Land Rovers, the quality of the finish/interior is not the best. Not too many electronic gremlins in there.
The mechanical portion is wonderful and ages very well. Only had to fix a water pump, a wire to the fuel pump and an alternator in the past 7 years I've owned this vehicule.
Beware: Land Rovers requires owners that do maintenance on a schedule! Those permanent 4 wheel drive system are great but require lube/care.
Parts are expensive on the dealer network. Look for cheaper 3rd party replacement when possible.
Land Rover dealerships have fairly bad reputation when it comes to service/maintenance (of course, there are exceptions).
I do all the maintenance (except oil change) myself, this keeps the running cost WAY down.
All in one, great dependable vehicule. Will keep it as long as it will run (probably another 10 years)."
"After driving this for the past 13 yrs still prefer this ride to typical sedan. Sits high, feels secure, runs great. Passengers cannot believe this has 200 miles, and nearly no rust. Been great car and will hit 250k."
"Purchaced new in 98, has 129k and requires only minor maint that is best done by the owner/operator. Pulled horses, boats, campers, and have taken back roads in California, Canada, and eastern and western mountains. Nothing will come close to achieving what I have done with this vehicle. Other autos are sitting at home because I choose to drive this one. Keep up with fluid changes for trans and diffs ft and rear. Change oil and filter every 3-4k, replace belt every 40k, watch for leakes at power steering pump, and you shoud have a wonderful time."
"This is an awesome performance vehicle. Do not expect a ride equivalent to that of other luxury SUVs due to that fact that this vehicle was designed for off-road performance as well as highway driving. Expect around 16mpg without much variance of either city or highway use. The cabin is loud and engine noise can be annoying if you are expecting a Mercedes style commute. Aerodynamically, you can actually improve gas mileage by removing the luggage rack cross bars.
I highly recommend this vehicle if you are the adventurous type, but not if you are more desirous of a smooth, quiet ride."
