Travel to any far-reaching point on the planet, from dense and muddy rainforests to desolate deserts, and it's a safe bet that the tire tracks you see will belong to a Land Rover. Few competitors deliver the same from-the-factory off-road capability that's built into most every Land Rover vehicle.

Today's shopper can choose from four models ranging from the small but capable Land Rover LR2 to the 390-horsepower Land Rover Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Buyers interested in a vehicle with less grunt under the hood (and a shorter name) can opt for the Land Rover Range Rover, a normally-aspirated version of the Range Rover Sport, or the boxy Land Rover LR3.

Prices range from the mid-$30,000s for the Land Rover LR2 to about $100,000 for a Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged. Clearly, off-road luxury comes at a premium.
