Pros: "Reliable, great HVAC, handles well"

Cons: "sits high off the ground"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"This has been the best car I've ever owned...and then a couple of days ago a lady t-boned me and now it's in the car cemetery. I am heart broken. The seatbelt and dual airbags worked properly in the accident and prevented me from what would have been some major injuries. This car has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. I've been averaging about 14-15 mpg in town. I drove it from California to Illinois a few years ago and it ran like a champ! All it has needed is normal maintenance and the only problem I have had is the dome light stopped working properly...I just never had it fixed. The few things I didn't like about the design were "girl" things...no suitable place to put the purse when carrying a passenger and cup holders in an awkward place. Also it sits high off the ground, so it's a little difficult to get in & out of for a 5'1" woman like me. The roof rack placement makes it difficult to install after-market moon-roof...should have gotten a factory-installed one. Other than that...great car...great value...I would have kept it forever!"

Pros: "Excellent service over time and miles"

Cons: "none really"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"I bought this 2004 Kia Sorento from my son several years ago when it had about 66,000 miles on it. Today, with the odometer registering 325,000+ miles, I sadly must put it to rest. Not because it has stopped providing exceptional service, but because of a fracture (unknown cause, perhaps old age) in the frame near the rear axle which would (at some point) likely cause a failure. I had hoped for 400,000 miles, and absent the fracture I have no doubt it would have happened. Now, I go off to find another Kia Sorento and hope for similar results."

Pros: "WELL MADE, GOOD LOOKING"

Cons: "LOW POWER, ELECTRICAL ISSUES"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"No mechanical issues with 128,000 miles. Still very good looking SUV. Interior looks new except for boot around parking brake. Occasional I have a flickering display on the AC display but goes away after a while. Does eat light bulbs. Not a lot of power but enough. Overall very happy with it."

Pros: "solid construction, great value, well powered V6"

Cons: "Few. Almost certain rear end repair at 100K+ miles"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I have owned my 2007 model Sorento for 3.5 years now, and have driven it from 75000 miles to 132000. My wife and I constantly talk about how pleased we are with it. It drives now just as smoothly and solidly as it did when we got it. it is comfortable and durable, has a great turning radius, and super pick up. It is solidly constructed. Reliability is the #1 quality I look for in a car, and the Sorento has been so for me with one exception. I find it to be very low maintenance overall, especially given its mileage range, and this pleases me to no end. One of the reasons it has cost little is because I own the 2007 model, the only one which has a timing chain instead of timing belt. This means it never has to be replaced, unlike the others years'. The one exception I can mention as far as maintenance is the rear differential. All of the Sorentos in this range have a standard problem caused by leftover welding solder inside the rear differential. In time (100K-120K miles) these rough edges break off and get into the bearings in the rear differential and start making noise. This does need to be fixed as eventually the bearings will wear out because of it. if you take it to the dealer they will want to charge you $1800 and replace the 'chuck,' the whole axle and differential all in one set. This is the surest and speediest repair (and easiest for the dealer, which is why they do it). you can bargain the dealer down to $1200 if you try, but in the end I refused this and had a local mechanic take the differential apart and fix it for $600. While this may sound scary, I still recommend the car wholeheartedly. It is a standard repair the dealers know about, and is the only issue I have had. To drive a paid off car for for 3.5 years, put 60K miles on it, and only have spent less than $1000 in maintenance and repairs...yes, I will take that. I fully expect this car to last me past 200K miles."

Pros: "Awesome SUV especially for the price"

Cons: "rust inside the doors and sunroof years ago."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought my Sorento new in 2004. It has 150,000 miles now and I have had some things go wrong over the past couple of years, but other than that I have never put any money into the SUV except oil changes, tires and brakes. I would recommend this SUV to anyone. I love KIA and am the owner of two KIAs. The only problem I would say with KIA the Sorento rusted in all four doors and inside sunroof years ago and KIA would not stand behind the rust, even tho it is garage kept."

Pros: "dependable, agile, quick. great vehicle"

Cons: "Electrical?"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"Last of the RWD Sorentos which is why I purchased. Short turning radius, lots of go. Should have been a column shift, center console a waste of room. Body Control Module and break switch failed at 145000, just after factory recall break switch was replaced. (Hmmm) Cost of repairs about $1200. Without question this was a great vehicle. Replaced brake pads once, rear torsion bar bushings at 100000. Pleasant to drive and a real workhorse for trailer. Would still be driving if electrical issues were backed by KIA"
